SE ROTJ boba fett 98% finished

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

Thank you very much guys,

Another update to post.
Managed to get the mandibles painted yesterday. All of the colours apart from the red a custom mixes, although I feel the grey may be a little bit to light, to late now though :(. They still need to be buffed down, the "super detail" painted on as well as the scratches need to be applied. Next up will be the kill stripes, followed by the ears.

What do you guys think?

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

Beautiful work! Very inspiring for me as I just finished my VERY FIRST layered topical paint job on a SGT FANG that was in pretty bad shape. I sucked at most of the build, but I learned a LOT! I'm on the list for a GMH...I plan to do all Airbrush when it arrives.

GREAT WORK BRO!

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

I can't say enough about this build!!! I concur with everyone on this board you have a great attention to th' details during this progress thread. Awesome job bra!!!

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

Incredible job! Long time fan of Fett here. You did it a great deal of justice. The level of detail in the paintwork is superb. I can't wait to see the finished product. Do you plan on adding any lighting to the helmet interior?

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

Thanks again guys.
As for the interior no I dont plan on doing anything special, this will be a trooping lid. It will have a fan and some padding, nothing special. I do have lights in the RF topper that are linked to a mercury switch, and I do hope of installing a servo for the RF. Ive got the SR interior as well but thats to be used for a different display lid as I cant get my melon in with it lol.

Well like I said previously I felt that the grey was a tad, if not really, to light. To me it seams it was hard to break up the grey and silver, and having the helmet on a stand for a few days made me want to fix it.
So I went and mixed up a darker grey, and topically applied it over the lighter grey. While I was at it I also added some of the finer details in the silver areas. Indoor shots so sorry for the quality.

Really happy with the repaint, I mixed the grey with some thinner and you cant tell that its painted on top even up close. Masking up the kill stripes now so as to start on them next week.

Thanks,

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

Hey guys, another update to show.
Been working on the helmet, mainly adding the kill stripes as well as some weathering and the "super" detailing. Kill stripes were done by painting them yellow, and gently misting orange from the back.

Also.....not sure if I mentioned it but I also did another helmet :D

Pretty much an exact copy of the first, which I did along side the one documented, simply after stenciling the 1st I just re-did it on the 2nd. Very easy and it helps save on clean up, although it does take twice as long to get a colour down lol. The only difference is that the front helmet is a little behind, I need to add the kill stripes as well as the weathering on the lower cheeks. But other than that they are pretty much the same.

Thought I may as well post this as these lids will be finished before the week is out, really pleased with the out come of them. Next thing to be painted will be the gauntlets, then the armour which im really looking forward to :D
Cheers,

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

Thank you very much guys for the comments :D

Did some small work on the helmets, finding it hard to get major work done on them as im sitting my final exams but they are getting there. I mainly started the weathering process, finishing up the back panels which im really pleased with. These photos were taking inside and I really dont like how the red is showing, its much darker in person. I will get better photos up tomorrow.

I also got the other lid to the same state, finishing up the kill stripes and applying all the weathering to both the cheeks and back panels. Still need to add some more weathering though to the rest of the helmets. The helmet with the ears on though has been given a satin clear coat. Waiting on a set of ears now and then I can get both of these finished, not long now.

Re: SE ROTJ boba fett

Thank you very much fella's

I got another update to show you guys, on that im really chuffed with. It just so happened that walking through the city, on of the big clothes shops were closing down. I had a word with one of the foremen who was helping taking down the displays and I managed to snag myself a full brand new male mannequin. Ive been looking for one for ages and to get one for free was incredible, if if I did have to carry it up the high street to the car :lol

Main problem with the mannequin was that he was over 6ft, and im just 5'10. So I had to do a little DIY and cut him down, luckily he had a long waist which was the ideal spot to cut. A few strips of Fiberglass and bondo, and he was done. Now my fett items dont hide away in a box.

Even the shoes fit him :lol

He sadly didnt come with a stand so ignore the leaning against things lol, so im going to have to make one out of wood, but I cant be to fussy. Only problem is that he currently has to stay downstairs, and its bloody scary coming down in the night for a drink and seeing him stood there lol. Im going to be cutting his arms soon as well to pose him better, I wanted to go for the PF boba fett stance but that would mean having to reposition the legs, so im going to go for something like this, except with his empty hand hold his belt,
