Screen Accurate Millennium Falcon Cockpit (CG Model)

They fixed it for ESB (last pic)

Hi J,

I'm almost positive that last image is from ANH - it doesn't include the "extension" panels that were addded for filming during ESB

S,

Images are amazing!

S,

Yes, that last one is definitely from ANH, but it's from before filming. Note the perspex windows, which were in the blueprints, but removed before filming. This is also from before they crunched the cockpit down causing all the misalignments. Not to mention removing the middle strut.

Thanks for the compliments folks!

Blobvandam, hah, thanks! if only I could snap them as fast as pictures. Compared to photography, cg rendering is in the blackroom phase right now. Can't wait till it evolves to the point where we can get instantaneous photorealistic renders.

Thanks for sharing your amazing work with us. It's amazing what technology allows us to do these days, but without the kind of talent that you possess, all that technology would be useless.

I also added some Gustave Holst.

I am ashamed to admit I don't recognize that Holst piece. Would you mind educating me? ;)

Cheers
Eddie

Sorry guys didn't notice that detail :(

Great renders Steve, she looks beautiful:D

I love the engine vents, how are you going to detail the far side?

J

Fantastic work as ever Steve! I saw this on reddit on thought of this thread - 66 Behind the Scenes Pics from THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK - Imgur. It's got some nice shots of the Falcon that you've probabley seen but who knows, there might be something new.

It's been way too long since I've been around these parts (I've got around twenty pages of this thread to "work" my way through). It's great to see that you're still coming out with amazing work.

Jaitea,
"eventually" is how I'm going to do the far side. heh. No, since they didn't build the far side, I'll be detailing it from the 5' Studio Model, to fill in the missing DNA, so to speak. I had considered referencing the full scale ESB falcon for the far side, but I think I may tackle that entire ship at some later date... If that's my plan, I'll stick to ANH reference for this model.

Thanks again for the compliments, folks!

cooking some more renders, with all the new details I posted, in the deathstar docking bay. As much work as I've put in, it's hard to believe that I'm only just north of 50% done with the exterior. If that, yeesh. so much to do!

Awesome work as usual mate :) I have put up a video of the imperial shuttle you asked about on youtube, only a first draft though ;)

Any chance of a larger resolution for the renders? These would be great desktop backgrounds if not for their size...

Wow Man.. Im amazed your still smashing away at this.

I remember watching this thread and chatting to you probably two years ago now when I was doing a similar uni project.

Good to see you kept with it

I think i read somewhere a while ago you were collaborating with those guys who were trying to build a life size falcon... hows that going?

I plan to get back to you guys on the great posts you've been making. Been really distracted by just about everything.

Tons of new interior work done though. I've also put some more work into the cockpit, but not enough to show. The imperfect version is turning out to be more difficult than I thought it would.

The last one is Docking Bay 327 with no Falcon, just for fun.

Great work as usual Steve. Absolutely love seeing the empty docking bay, you really get a good sense of the space.

Oh and thanks for the update, I was starting to go through withdrawals. lol.

Man I have been away form the forum for too long...especially this thread sitll trying to get caught up.

I've been up to my neck in Studio scale BOP for the last 3 months

Steve absolutely amazing work! I can't believe the volume of it all.

This is officially my favorite thread on the RPF -great to see the full size project too!

What next for you? modeling the complete Death Star interior? ;)
