Scratchbuilt Research Vessel WIP - New Member Introduction!

I have been working on some detail painting today. This is my first real go with airbrushing and I'm learning quite a bit. Probably the biggest thing is patience, lol. I'm still deciding whether to do something with windows? Might just use it as lesson for next build.

I finally got some more detail painting done on this beasty. I am getting pretty close to putting a coat of gloss clear on it to do some decals and some dark washes. I'm also trying to figure out a nice display mount for it. There is a threaded insert in the bottom that I'll be using for some green screen images so I'll probably do something with that.

Looking spiffy for sure:cool::cool:(y)(y) Plans for the wear and tear painting?
Thank you Joberg!
Initially I'm planning on doing an oil wash to bring out more of the creases and panel lines with burnt umber and I'll also add some decals that will have the ship name and some misc items. After that I'll hit it with some alclad flat then do some chalk powder weathering to show where the maneuvering thrusters have fired. I may add some micro sponged silver in spot to show high wear areas. I will probably play it by ear a bit. My biggest fear is messing up all the work I did on it, lol. I'm thinking it won't have any scorch marks from atmospheric entry as it has the ability to control its descent, but it will still have some grunge from landing on dirty planets.

Just saw this build thread. Definitely agree with the TOS BSG detailing inspiration.
I really like how all of your detailing is square and level.......EXCELLENT!!! The layering is also well done, not too much, just enough.
Looking forward to more progress. (y)

Thank you very much! I can't wait to get some beauty shots of this one and put it up on the display stand :)
