Scratchbuilt M41A

Well.........apart from the shoulder strap....I've finished my Xmas holiday project. An M41A.

Couple of things that aren't virtually accurate, but I still LOVE it :D

Comments??

Thanks...
It's primarily a base of Pine, very roughly cut into the shape of a Thompson machine gun.
The rest is made out of sheet plastic...(I think it's kind've like what you guys call Sintra, but I'm not sure)...and PVC pipe.

The LED counter was salvaged from an clock/radio that "died about 6 months ago.

To cut a long story short, I started by downloading photos from any site that I could. Enlarging them with a photocopier to the size that I thought the rifle was, and then made templates to transfer onto the plastic.

Get me??

Thanks Mot....
That way I can say it's allllllll mine.....
(I think it's a scratchbuilder's "thing") ;)

Whoa, nice job. Scratchbuilding gives you the most satisfaction after completing the project, I thought. Well done.

That's the beauty of it. It all comes apart relatively easily.

If you want, I'll do it and take some shots of the components

I, for one, would love to see shots of it disaseembled.

That is a great looking M41A. A piece to be proud of. I love to see the scratchbuilds. :thumbsup

Woah, that's some impressive work. After you show us the work in pieces pics, how about showing us what else you've built?

Nice work. Ireally must build one of these, now were did I leave that deactivated Thompson?

Ahhhhhhh, if it was only "that" easy "down under"..

Australia has extremely strict gun laws...(including replicas and the like)...so getting a Thompson...(even a deactivated one).. would be next to impossible.

That's quite an accomplishment...I love it.

That there ladies and gents is what replica props is all about.

The man wanted a pulse rifle and he made one.

DarthBish you said in your fist post "Couple of things that aren't virtually accurate...", but let me tell you...you got yourself a pulse rifle there and there's a hundred other guys out there who would kill to have anything remotely pulse rifle looking...so revel in your accomplishment and soak up the praise... I'll fight any man that says otherwise...;)

All too true...I believe the word Draconian applies in regards to gun laws in Oz...

BTW if you want to have a go at another one just let me know, I'll send you all the reference you want without hesitation.

Cheers.

Matt

Thanks Matt...
Yor praise is making me blush..but for me you're "bang on the knocker"......
Want a prop??...then try to build one.
The feeling of accomplishment is fantastic

As for the reference...send away mate, I'd VERY much appreciate it

Cheers
