Scratchbuilt Jabba's Sailbarge / Khetanna custom Toy and Model WIP

God, I love this thing. What an absolutely masterful piece of artwork. The lit bar has to be by far my favourite. That, and the etched glass panels around Jabba's throne area. Simply a spectacular attention to minute detail.

I can't wait for more.

I have apparently been living under a rock . . . because I TOTALLY MISSED THIS!!!

Seriously though, fantastic work. The build is fantastic, and I am a HUGE fane of your displays. Wow, just wow!

Pheewwww...it has been a long time now. Well you know...life came in the way. Anyway I am back again to go forward and hopefully finish this project in 2017.

Many thanks for all your great posts and kudos...I read them with enjoyment!! ;) :D

Soooooooo....

I first started to finish the hatches:

"But how in the world should I fit in there???"
Khetanna_451.jpg

It's simple: no Kenner/Hasbro figure will fit in there like in the movie. This was the only way possible to make those happen (regarding the size of the ship)....so maybe some space to hide some weapons?

Next up is the nose. I needed to completley redo the undersurface. It all got wavy and bendy, it was a real mess....I tried to fix it but then decided to rip it off and do it again. Lots of work for looking the same now then in 2014...hahaha. At least the greeblies to the front are new now:

Also the cables and greeblies to the top deck were renewed. The hatch got a better closing mechanism (magnet) and while making that it broke into a hundred pieces. So the whole thing was redone....lots of sanding and filling...and so on:

I joined this forum the other day because I found this thread on Google; it's the coolest scratch-build I've ever seen, so glad to see it's still going :D
I love the use of different materials, and the styrene shaping is beyond perfect, keep it up!!

PS: what kind of putty/filler are you using for this?

Just went through the whole thread...... :facepalm.... Headache....Wooooowww:eek
Would be very disappointed if it doesn't hover or float like the movie prop:lol
Great project.

Thank you very much!! :D

I use a filler called: "Schnell Spachtel weiss"...made by "Simprop Electronic"...I guess its a "German-Only" product sadly???

Still trying to finish the nose. I started with the cables below. Found some old headphone parts I could use:

Next up is that missing cockpit. Finally I started a rough build....so the shape of it is now planed and by now almost done. It's built for vintage and for modern figures. I think Klaatu and Weequay had a lot of fun?? Well the aim as always was to minimize the weight. So it's a very light built.

Next up will be filler and sanding. Afterwrads the greeblies and such....plus lightening... :D

Thanks for looking.

Could you tell me what those metal cables are you used with the headphone parts???

Thanks

This build is bananas! AWESOME WORK! I am happy to see someone else using bass strings in their work. This is the kind of stuff that inspires me to keep building.

Glad to see you back at it Wolff and making so much progress. It is so much fun to watch this come together! Very inspiring.

I can only find stainless steel ones. Wouldn't they not be able to be painted then??

Thanks
