Scratchbuilt Jabba's Sailbarge / Khetanna custom Toy and Model WIP

Very nice! I love all the little details you are putting in there. The Jabba "family" photo is a great touch.

Even with all the sanding it seems worth it if you are happy in the end with the results.

I just noticed a possible problem for you. :eek Are any of those window covers wide enough for Luke to pull the Jabba thug action figure through? :lol

Whew! Crisis averted! :p Future hours of complete re-enactment are still possible. :D:lol

I've never specifically noticed the portrait in the actual film before. You did a great job replicating that yourself.

Cant wait to let the crew on board and to play and picture every scene.....but this is still a looong way to go! I have still so many plans, and some of them will demand me to the limit...maybe this all goes too far....we will see ;)

Time to enjoy what was already built!! Some shots of the ship how it looks right now. I really make to less pictures of the total ship...just recognized it.

I am already onto 4 more main parts (2 pairs each). There is still a hell of a work to do on the things that are already made, but I wanted to " create" someting again....not only filling and sanding......
So here is a teaser:

Thanks for looking.

Thanks sofaking! :D :D :D

It is a bit disapointing to me, to be honest, that the shots of the complete ship weren't that spectacular to most of you folks then I thought. I am personally pretty happy with how this is developing. Anyway.....here is another (not that spectacular)...

So here we go with completing the upper part of the ship. There is still lots of work that needs to be done.

We are starting with the masts. These were planned in size and location over years. This means I always thought about those. Now I just started making those...finally. I already had made some or lets say I started to build some and cancelled it. So this is actually the second try!

Indeed this masts are a crossover between the fullsize movie model and the ILM model.

What also is needed to finish the deck are the two hatches to the front. I never was sure about building those. These will get way to small to get figures through it because I wanted a playable toy in a size that is still manageable. So the hatches will be very small and are for no use (thinking about their use in the movie). But they are important to the look of the ship IMO and I will use them to get more light from above to the bar section inside. First up is some original pics followed by the building pics.

I hope you like this update.

Please don't interpret the lack of comments as a lack of enthusiasm. Absolutely fantastic build and your attention to detail is staggering. The pics of the assembled piece are gorgeous.

This is amazing.(y)cheers:love Like one of the best pieces ever made. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The full ship is very, very impressive. I actually missed the update from 5 days ago so I just saw it now.

Do not worry, it is incredible and I'm guessing most just have not seen it yet.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again.

So when is the run???

Seriously the only thing I see wrong is I can't have one.

Tom

You could always use those two little boxes to place Jawa's inside -- The kenner 3 3/4 scale just might fit if you lay them down and once they stand up with the door's open it would look perfect --

Or you could turn them into two little pop-up blaster boxes where the guards stand behind them and shot things off the deck (I think that's what the guys at kenner would make them into) --

Also your ship is so amazing in the detail's that you have added, I look forward to seeing the completed ship --

Take care

Oslm

This whole build is fanfreakintastic toy or not. It's an amazing model, more work than I can imagine, and I can imagine quite a bit! ;) I'd have gotten bored with it by now for sure. Amazing work!

looking awesome! I missed the earlier post but have subscribed now, can't wait for the paint up. I love, iit looks like a model sail boat, rich folks might have behind their desk :)!

I would play forever with all of those windows on that barge;) Really good stuff happening here! Don't give up and keep building/transforming.

Told ya

Excellent ... but I don't have to convince you nor does anybody else ... it's you having fun that's all that matters ... and it certainly shows :)

Chaim

Agreed! I leave for a week and this is what I miss. The complete shots of the barge look great. Awesome looking progress. This build is totally Wicked!!!! (Quoted in the voice of the tricycle kid from The Incredibles) :lol

I disagree. Yeah,..having fun yippie,... but what really matters is he takes all his hard work and hours of incredible attention to detail and turn it into an easy to assemble kit for a very reasonable price to save me lots of time and money. :D:lol:lol:)

Seriously really amazing work. Congratulations

Tom

Well Jameth, when you put it that way..... Agreed! :lol Even so I'm having a lot of fun just watching this build as I suspect a lot of others are just by the traffic here. A kit would be double wicked because then I'd have one too. :cool :cool

Keep the creativity flowing Wolff! We are all enjoying your progress here.

Don't look at it like that. Take pride in what you've done and what you're doing! You're one of a select few who has made the decision to tackle this project. I'm thrilled you've allowed us to tag along for the ride. :)

Kudos!
