I am currently collaborating with a member in constructing this costume. The miniseries Sci-Fi ran was ok, but in my opinion the suit was great. I am personally a fan of this type of superhero look - the leather type-similar to Universal Designs DK Batman suits, etc. Makes it more believable and what someone would wear, not 30lbs of latex, etc.
My partner and I are starting with fabric choices for the various parts of the costume. I would like some input from you professionals in what you think the materials of choice for this suit would be.
Currently, we are looking at a 3 piece suit - with an under jacket with the designs along the arms. The pants with the stripes/designs along the pants. A slip over vest that has the purple armor on the front, the belt attached, and the neck armor. And lastly the hood with visor,etc.
For the black material we are thinking a neoprene type material including the hood. The stripes and the black part are the easy part -
The difficult part is the purple armor - so far we are looking at a plastic molding with stretched leather over top? ANY IDEAS? Additionally, the grey material on the torso - similar to a backpack material.
ANY IDEAS will be very helpful. I am a fan of being VERY accurate - so any help would be greatly appreciated.
