Limited Run RUN CLOSED * DL-44 ESB Blaster Machined Parts Set * RUN CLOSED

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Machined Parts Set $100 JUNE 30 CUTOFF

I'll be ordering the machined parts by the middle of next week. The boss at the machine shop is on vacation until then.

The next phase is the scope/piston machining process. The shop won't even open the box until the boss gets back and then it will take a week or so to get that process figured out.

By that time Think Jedi should have good umbers for me to get the cost of that process worked out. I'm thinking I'll be ready to star invoice the scope/piston machining toward the end of July.

end of july works perfect for me, I've been little anxious with all my runs I'm on. our dog has been having medical issues and the vet bills have been astronomical, this gives me time to save up!

Has anyone else had any issues emailing Think Jedi? I've emailed him twice with my scope\piston order, but I've not got any response and I notice others saying they've already received an invoice and paid.

i never emailed him i PM'ed him and he got back to me by the next day (twice i did that)

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Machined Parts Set $100 JUNE 30 CUTOFF

Yeah. I PM'd him, gave my info, then he sent me the invoice via PayPal.

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Machined Parts Set $100 JUNE 30 CUTOFF

I emailed him and sent payment very early(an hour or two) after the scope order email was sent to us, he got back to me pretty quick.

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Invoice received and paid for scope and piston set. Thanks Think Jedi!

I've been insane about Star Wars and props all my life, and I've been a part of these forums since the late 90s - yet I've never put together or owned a single Star Wars blaster. Now that the signup period is over and things are about to start rolling the excitement is really hitting me! Thanks for doing another run of these, BD. I can't imagine the amount of work/logistics involved in this project.

I got an email about a machined tip...

My work has been killing me, so I've fallen a bit behind on what's needed for what...

If I'm doing the Han Bespin, do I need this tip? Which is it for?

Thanks in advance!

KhalDrogo, I'm not sure why I didn't get your mail, but I got your PM and I have received your payment. Thanks.

Everyone else, I received a call this afternoon letting me know that my second batch (10 scopes and 30 piston sets) are done. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get a high percentage of good castings this time around. I fixed a few things in my process that should help. I'll pick them up tomorrow.

I'll post a status update tomorrow after I pick them up and examine them.

Scope/Pistons update:

I got my second batch from the foundry in today. These turned out much better than the first. I had to toss 5 out of 30 pistons. As stated before, there are minor imperfections on many of them, but nothing really ugly and I find them quite serviceable. If you're super anal about that "out of the box" look, you can always use spot putty to clean them up. But I like them as is as they remain true to the "Star Wars universe" look.

The raw scopes, like the pistons, have minor imperfections, but will all able to be cleaned up and made to look great. So as of now, I've got 34 finished piston sets and 14 finished scopes. I'm taking in a batch of 15 wax scopes and 30 wax pistons into the foundry tomorrow, so we'll be pretty darn close to done with the pistons and about 1/3 of the way through the scopes. In the meantime, I'll be plugging away at them at a rate of one per day. At this rate, I expect to have all bronze piston sets done by the first week of August and all of the bronze scopes done by the end of September, maybe the first week of October.

I have enough info to post a good update so here it is.

DENIX MAUSERS – I
ordered all of the Denix Mausers for this project and so far I have received 38 of them. I still have 26 on back order and I don’t expect them to ship until the middle of August. This isn’t a problem because the Mausers will be the last thing that get’s machined

MACHINED PARTS – I ordered all of the flash hiders, scope bracket disks and scope bracket spacers. I can not order the scope bracket until we know the hole spacing for the brass scopes. once we confirm that we can get 2” hole spacing I will order the scope brackets.

The shop had 2 solid brass scope from the current run and they also have my real scope and an machined brass scope from my original run in 2004. In the next couple weeks they are going to figure out the most cost effective way to do the initial machining and the deluxe machining.

They will also get me pricing for the scope lens rings, light sockets and mounting bolts.

CAST BRASS PARTS – Think Jedi is working diligently on these and has a projected completion date of late September / early October. Once he is done it will take my shop at least a month to cycle these parts through their machining process.

I know this seems like a long time but this is a complicated project with a lot of moving parts. Things have to progress in a certain order or very costly mistakes can be made.

I hope everyone is okay with this projected schedule.

Thanks

That is a little longer than anticipated. But it'll be well worth it (and meaning I can also save up for the next installments). Though I will ask just one question that I think is on many people's minds...

Do you think this will be done before the Episode VII premiere?

Thanks for the update, it will give us all time to save up.

im not sure if it's been addressed, but since we have to figure out the spacing for the bracket - a) will it still fit the holes on a real M19 and b) are the projected bolts going to match the real thing? (My M19 is missing them, it's so awesome this is a la carte)

Thanks for the update. I only ordered a scope disk. Any idea when that will be in hand?

Once Think Jedi is done wit the brass parts I will drive them and the mauser to the shop to save about $400 on shipping.

I should be able to pick up the machined parts that are on order and I will ship any order that can be shipped, such as yours.

Yes, we are going to make ever effort to go with the factory spacing on the scope bracket and I am going to see if the bracket can be slotted so people can go with the accurate look with the front foot hanging over the edge or an more idealized look with it flush to the edge.

If we can not do the factory hole spacing I will send out a group email and find out how many have real scopes and I'll have the spacing done 2 different ways - FACTORY & REPLICA
