RS Propmasters Biker Scout helmet - BEAUTIFUL

Hi all,
I just received the final approval photos for my RS Propmasters Biker Scout helmet (I won't call it Scout Trooper because the 1983 Kenner figure card is forever in my mind). I know I'm late to the party as this is my first RS Propmasters helmet, but just wanted to add to the praise that these talented guys deserve. I have wanted this helmet since I first saw the photo on the Kenner figure card and Rob and Si have delivered a very close representation of that helmet. My thanks to them and to Andrea who patiently, politely and professionally dealt with all the emails I fired over to them.

Got one ordered, too. Waiting sucks a bit especially when you see pics from other users already...

Does anyone have an opinion on the Red Label helmet compared to the standard?

I’ve had both and really like the Red Label helmet. Especially as it’s about $160 cheaper. They look identical except the lined interior of the red label which is easier to deal with than those hard hat liners. Here’s a few pics I took of each and you can see they are almost identical Except the weathering.

weathered = standard helmet (£500)
clean = red label (£375),

Isn't the Red Label helmet section made from one piece? While the regular helmet section is like the original, made with two halves?
In any event, yes, that Red Label looks beautiful.

Yes, the main helmet is one piece fiber glass which apparently makes it easier for RS to manufacture hence the cheaper price. The face plate is still ABS which is a good thing as the eFX faceplate is too heavy for the helmet.

Hey cool, I was already looking for a comparison between these two RS helmets.

Can you possibly take a few more pictures of the inside of the Red Label helmet?

Thanks a lot!

as it’s all black it’s tough to get good pics of the interior. Here are a couple. I’m not sure why RS don’t show better pics of the interior as it’s really nice.

Congrats, and welcome to the club. Look for their Hero TK helmet, that is another gem you can pre-order.

Thank you for the comparison pictures. Would really like to add an RS Scout to the collection but still unsure which out of these two I’ll go with. Beautiful helmets!

Thanks for the great comparison photos! They both look great.

Is there ever an issue with the traditional method of two halves developing a crack along the seam? It always seemed like a flimsy design that wouldn't be good long term.

If you were buying one for display purposes, which would you choose?

For no seam, go with EFX and a few other fan made ones. The first helmet to use this 2 halves joined together method was LoneWolf and it is a great helmet though not 100% accurate. RS is solid enough, even with this seam, so no worry.

I already have one of the RS Biker Scout helmet kits they sold a few years ago. I haven't built it yet. At the time they made it sound like they weren't planning on making more completed scout helmets. I'm not looking forward to trying to fit the halves and trying to make the seem look good.

I’d go for the red label every time as it’s cheaper, looks exactly the same and the main helmet is a single piece fiber glass Build. The only reason to go with the standard (2 half ABS helmet) is if you want the prop accuracy to the original (i.e. same construction methods & materials). The red label is also cheaper than eFX’s helmet and a lot better looking.
