ROTJ - Darth Vader lightsaber from a real Graflex

Looks great, Michael! I'll be looking for those pics tomorrow.

BTW, I'm still waiting on that Han ROTJ blaster. ;)

Thanks. :D

Yeah, i know. I was THAT close to gift it to you, it was packed, labeled, and i already had my jacket on - i was on my way to the post office. But then my wife said "You put that much work into it, you should keep it."

Well, after 18 years i learned to follow her opinions like orders. :lol

huh, this like spot on! I'd also like to point outt he irony of us OT accuracy buffs...we put so much energy into something the prop guys probably said...it's silver, paint it black and...

Not spot on, but as close as i could with my skills and the info available to me - with better infi it probably could improved. But nonetheless, thanks for your kind words. :D

Aye, the close enough is one of my main problems to accept when replicating. :behave;)

Thanks, yeah real stuff works best. :D

Here are the promised pics with the black painted doorlatch. I drilled the hole next to it´s end a little bit bigger - and don´t look to sharp on the lower end. Since i started this build i got another Graflex and made a ESB saber, so the drilled end was used for the ESB - Luke, and this one got the new end, undrilled and only provisoric glued t-track.Still searching for a not perfect bottom. :wacko

Thanks for looking. :)

^Beautiful saber, and all the work that went into making it.:thumbsup That's always been my favorite of Vader's ones...

Good work.Looks really nice.I like the ROTJ stuntsaber...it looks very different to the other sabers, but it has his own design.:)

I love this saber, and am starting on a hardware build of it... (one of my many projects)...

Quick question on the door latch... I can't find one JUST like that, but I've seen close... ish. How many millimeters long is that latch? I like the look, and would like to get as close as I can.

Thanks!

This has been my favorite of all saber for reasons I can't explain. Awesome looking saber, you definitely did a great job.

Aah yes this was the very first lightsaber that I ever set my own eyes on ... eventhough it turned out to be a complete replica altogether ... so now I'm glad I never paid the amount that they asked for it in the comic book store in Amsterdam ... the one time I was allowed to touch it up close and by which time I had learned so much about this particular lightsaber ... thus when I put my lips to the shroud and controlbox it felt warm not cold, like metal parts usually do even with a paintjob added ... so it was resin based (this might be the same as the original prop though) ... and the metal body was not a real graflex either ... however much more a chromed vacuum cleaner tube.

Now years later I still enjoy my later purchased all steal GraflexReborn GR0031 ... just love the stinky smell of it ... and I have a real vintage graflex awaiting upgrading to the ROTJ version with a Sym-Cha twist ... like Michael here I sometimes like to think as propmakers do instead of a collector, which is as long as it looks acceptable on screen ... thus loving real scratches and using unorthodox measures and materials to recreate as close as possible what we see on screen.
