ROTJ - Darth Vader lightsaber from a real Graflex

Bought another vintage Graflex, waiting for delivery - after that ... it´s most likely that the bottom switch is rather sooner than later. :)

I´ve seen it. :cool

It depends - if the coming bottom cell is also in a pristine condition, i´m no step further, it hurts to much to "ruin" a really nice one. :confused

I assume i will then swap and build the ESB Luke with this predrilled bottom, and just glue the grips to the new one, without drilling.

So i would still need a "not really pristine", but also not "to bad condition" one.

This saberstuff is somehow more confusing than our blasters. :wacko

Btw. got a mail today - my Eumig is on it´s way. :)

Here's another picture of the front D-ring . . .

Sorry for the late reply .

Here's a comparison pic -

You'll notice the D-ring on mine is just about 2mm smaller than the one on the original. THis is probably because I squeezed them together tighter than on the original saber.

The measurments on mine are 36mm wide, by 27mm tall....So, taking into account the 2mm discrepency, I would say the D ring on the original is probably about 38mm wide.

Don´t worry ;) - i´m not on the run, i have all the time it takes to make it as correct as i can.

Thanks, thats a great help. :cool

When i was checking my saved pics i got everything from 35 to 39 - depending on angle and pic size. And nothing any good for the height. So your data really helps my out of my "hmmm, i can´t decide....". :)

Yeah, I think the problem is that since the D ring is bent it makes it difficult to get an accurate measurement.

Hope to see more progress pics soon.

Roughly only one year later, and i have something to show again. :lol

The doorcatch from Marcus/Kurtyboy arrived, and first i gave it a sanding on the underside, to have it sit more flat on the saber.

Next step was drilling more holes (this graflex is like swiss cheese, more holes than anything else :D).

Then one of the holes was tapped with M2.

Man, that screw was heavy :cool

Looks great, Michael! I'll be looking for those pics tomorrow.

BTW, I'm still waiting on that Han ROTJ blaster. ;)
