ROTJ CUT SCENE on Star Wars Blu-Ray for next year....

Remember, Vaders meditation chamber is on his Superstar Destroyer, so instead of the current ROTJ opening you pan down from the crawl to his ship and cut to this scene.

Next we would cut to Luke building the Saber, because he has to give it to R2 before sending them off to Jabbas palace.

THEN we would cut to Vaders Destroyer reaching the DS2, the shuttle taking him aboard, and then cut to the droids walking up to Jabbas.

No, it was originally between the Jerjerrod scene and the droids walking toward the palace. The complete musical cue of the first few minutes of the movie has music for the deleted scene in that location.

This clip cuts away early, as the music is longer. There is lighthearted "droid music" that suggests that Luke said something to Artoo, and perhaps Threepio piped in as well.

As for Daniels not remembering this, in one of his columns he actually wrote about going with Lucas and a very small crew to Death Valley to shoot the background plate of him standing outside the cave, as a pickup during ROTJ postproduction.

I too was there, and it was real.

Lukes face was covered, but seeing it in person the quality was better, and you could tell that it was younger Hamill. I loved the scene and people were cheering. Personally though, I perfer the original entrance......in which his face was covered. Seeing him enter without a word, in all black, chocking the guards. It made me question if he had turned.

Watching this footage, to me, felt like the Prequels and not the OT. The clip feels like a movie trailer, where the director is trying to be cloak and dagger with what he shows you, to get the ‘fan boy’ blood pumping. I can feel that the director is trying to pull off the 'this is Star Wars, this shot needs to be cool' mentality of the Prequels. When the lightsaber ignites, and the crowd roars, is a dead give-away for me that this wasn't shot by during ROTJ, as this type of reveal just isn't existent in any of the OT. As the intent of this footage is to entice and excite, and to make you want more. You get excited to see it, and I cannot see Richard Marquand thinking about this back in 1983. To me, it just doesn’t match.

Personally, I am convinced (until proven otherwise) that this is new "Special Edition" type footage. But that is just me.

Unless of course, it is reedited footage (as mentioned above) from it's original cut to match the PT style.
And I am not sure how "I was there and saw it first hand" proves that it is vintage footage.

As has been pointed out, Luke's face is not seen in ROTJ until he faces Jabba. It's hidden by his cloak until then. This scene is consistent with that.

I'll admit the "Luuuuuuke... Luuuuuuuuuuuuke" sounds kinda lame. The dragged out "uuuuuuuuu" just sounds lame. If it were shorter, I'd be ALL IN on that scene!

I believe it's real now after reading everything.

After the NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

In episode 3... I didn't mind this JEJ Vader... not one bit. :lol

In person it was much clearer, as I and foxbatkllr have said, you had to see it there. I watched it on youtube, and yes I can see why you doubt. But the was no doubt in my mind that it was real. If anything JEJ voice was of the time period, not his now older voice (ep 3 vader was different than in 83). There is no doubt in my mind that it is real.

Anyway, I love seeing cutscenes, despite (or because) of the fact that you can tell why they were cut. While it might be interesting to see how they would cut into the films I don't want them "officially" in there. Maybe just as extras, with a little bit of the footage that would go before and after to provide context, would suffice for that kind of study.

Lucas always seems to feel that unfinished effects need to be polished for cutscenes; I disagree. If the scene was cut while there was nothing but blue back there, fine. Whatever state it was in when the decision was made, so be it. (I would be okay with plopping in vintage elements that had been shot/animated but never integrated into the footage before it was cut, though. Just nothing new.)

I have to say that I do wish they'd do (not just LucasFilm, but filmmakers in general) more options to include cut scenes back into the film. The last DVD I can recall that did this was the first X-men film. You could press a button during the playback of the film and it'd incorporate the deleted scene on the fly. Especially with something like the Star Wars films, or the Blade Runner films, it'd be great if filmmakers would simply release versions where yuo can either decide on the fly, or pre-select which scenes/versions of scenes to include in your playback each time. Ah well.

ALL all? As in every single frame shot? Every take? That's hundreds of hours, man. ;)

Bring it! You know how many hundreds of hours Ive spent watching the 6 hours that are available of the OT? LOL!

In all seriousness though, I mean all of the deleted "scenes" not like every bit of rolling footage. Bloopers and out takes. But would love to have access to a digital library of EVERYTHING... sure!

For those who have not seen it or want to see it again http://paralleluniverse.msn.com/video-hub/?g=f56c9fd6-eae2-4d68-bae4-eae0589051cc&from=en-
