ROTJ CUT SCENE on Star Wars Blu-Ray for next year....

Interesting. So we're getting another super-ultra-really-special edition this time?

I only plan on buying the series ONCE on Blu-ray.

WT???

They said it was never filmed!!!

OMG! THAT IS AWESOME!

PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE say they are adding in fixers workshop/biggs to ANH and the wampa attack in ESB, and the ROTJ sandstorm!!!

AHH!

Somthing to look forward to with SW again? Who knew? LOL!!!

Luke is cloaked up like the emperor. Any chance it was newly filmed? Definitely looks to be cool either way.

Question is, is it a cut scene or edited in?

If it's a new SSE or whatever, they damned well better give alderaan some screen time in ANH if they're blowing it up. It'll give it loads more effect than the current version. For all the viewer actually knows, it's an empty planet.

I'm curious as to whether or not it was newly filmed as well. They never showed lukes face and it sure is kinda polished up all nice and shiny for a cutscene. Maybe they will put it into the film??

I'm geeked either way. That was awesome!

Luke appears cloaked when he arrives at Jabba's palace too.

Here are my frame grabs from the other thread...

Yeah, the more I get to thinking... I asked Anthony Daniels AND Kenny Baker at seperate times at seperate dinner outings about this scene and neither remembered it being filmed.

While that doesn't mean they deffinately were or were not filmed it does make me wonder... Hell with the new technology being used in the new TRON Luke may have been all CGI!

I really want to know now... Old cut scene? Or newly added scene?

Finally Lucas releases something worth watching - and it only took 30 years.

George, we've crunched the numbers, and a 56 second youtube clip will sell 10 million copies to folks previously honked off by the special editions.

Still looking for a prequel buddy to split these 6-packs with. :angel

Well, if it's new, you gotta figure it'd be in the film itself, not just a cutscene.

Looking at that saber blade, looks like the newer PT type blade as well. Would George finish off the cutscene and not re-insert it? I suppose, but it flies in the face of the previous cutscenes which we just got raw.

Luke's hand doesn't look like that of a guy pushing 55+. Can anyone compare it to his hand from the OT? I think there was a good shot of it in ESB.

How do you know?

Apparently everyone involved, at one time or another, hasn't been able to remember actually shooting it. Not saying it wasn't actually shot there - just wondering how you know is all.

Search your feelings you know it to be true.

It has the look and feel of the time - it looks (and I realize we're watching something taped off a screen) but it looks like film not digital - or it looks like film that was cleaned not birthed as digital - know what I mean? There's just a certain something. Even the way it plays, it feels less overbearing and detailed focused (milking effect shots). I't plain and simple - a few twists and he's got the thing ready - I just think it it were done today it would be lite differently and there would all kinds of chirps and bleeps as he turned the socket in the lightsaber.

IIRC....

The scene of Vader holding the saber in close-up was filmed in California by ILM with the new 'Hero' saber.

I would imagine that this scene would have been filmed in Cali after principle photography had wrapped in England, since he's holding a Hero-style saber.

It has the feel of 'daily' footage, not final-cut-printed footage. The shot of C-3po could have been filmed on location and was inserted as a placeholder but then the scene was never finished.

That chin of Hamils just looks like it's him... and I agree with Jet (for once :lol) it just feels old. I think it's legit.

It looks to be newly filmed footage....George Lucas has the technology to make film look older than what it appears to be...

In the star wars series, I dont remember at any point luke having his face covered....but why in this particular scene cover it? I dont believe it was mark hammil...Didnt he go on camera saying he never filmed this particular scene?
