Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

I'm not sure whats happened but seems like there're people around here that seriously have issues with life itself!!!!!

I'm so bored of the inane rants by people over the nonsense and nebulous ramblings of the total mess thats in their heads that it makes me ashamed to be part of the same species !!!

Go and put the time you spend on here ranting about absolute TOSH into your families, instead of moaning that a woman has something cool to do in real life and in fiction....honestly go take your moms out and talk to your kids, ask em how their day was and go play with them ...build some models or props or even better teach someone something about something they love ....but seriously just do something about your attitude towards life.....and be thankful that not all our species are like you...this is directed to all that feel victimised by its words...

Honestly just go and spend more time with your closest family and stay off the internet for a bit, please?

Boy, aren't you dramatic?! :lol

Thanks for the lecture, Dr. Phil. Lmao

I'm very sorry diversity of opinion antagonizes you so. Methinks it is you who needs a break from the internet. The World Wide Web is a wild, unpredictable frontier, and may contain...EEEK!!...GASP!!!...perspectives that differ from your own! You had better stay away for a while, Guy--it's scary out here.:eek

Oh dear, a lesson in irony and contradiction. Forever the self proclaimed victim ....

What a shame the diversity you Lord is not part of your own logic. Missing the point of your own point is quite a unique skill !!

I defy you to show me a single post in which I try to stifle someone from opining views contrary to my own. I haven't--no matter how misguided I deemed their opinions to be. You, my friend, are the one advocating censorship. ;)

It just goes on......and on......from one thread to the next

"There's nothing for me here now,....I want to learn the ways of the Facebook"

You volunteered as a victim, I never mentioned your name, my request is to stop with totally moot topics re women and life and movies,,,, it's just boring and on repeat by far too many people ... Not censorship just boring for all to keep reading and creating self inflicted unrealistic opinions over and over and over

Your insecurity is leading to your continued self proclaimed victimisation and self defence

All in a thread about a cool trailer... Just by replying to an open post in the way you did shows where your at emotionally, and try reading before you get all worked up. Opinions are great but rants are boring as this has become

A simple gesture of moving on would've been enough but you had to be a hard done to keyboard warrior again

Apologies to Rogue one fans for dragging this on, it it's bewildering that a 7 foot 3inch dog with no genitals is more believable than a powerful female Character in a fictional universe where anything can happen !!!

Point being ANYTHING can happen so rants about female roles are totally moot to the subject ....

You didn't mention my name because you're a passive-aggressive POS. No offense. :)

I get it: any opinions that are odds with yours, and that are posted more than once, you consider a "rant". lol

Let me offer you a suggestion. If you're bored with the opinions of others, then don't read them. It's really quite simple.

But no, you'd rather lecture, and whine, and complain, and play the victim that the thread's been ruined for you, and insult your fellow RPFers for daring to see things differently from you. You want *them* to shut up, to protect your frail sensitivities.

Don't presume to speak for the rest of the board, brotha. Just because you think the intricacies of how female roles are written in modern Star Wars movies is a "moot topic", does not mean everyone here feels that way. I find it fascinating, as do many others. So just take a chill pill, and skip over stuff you don't find interesting--instead of going off on passive-aggressive insulting diatribes suggesting members who disagree with you ought to get another hobby, spend more time with their family, and vacate the internet. lmao

ps~Chewie *most definitely* has genitals. You can insult me all you want...but do NOT question Chewie's wookieehood!

Yeah, but really, are designers going to redesign the entire death start over a 5 foot diameter port on an object the size of a moon? I loved that animation someone put up of the DS engineer who points out that not only did it have to hit a tiny hole that the targeting computer couldn't hit, but that it additionally made are hard 90 degree turn after entering the port to make its way to the core and blow the thing up. Kind of a magic torpedo :)

Seriously, though, it wouldn't be thought of a design flaw until after the thing blew up. As they said in the movie - "we've analyzed their attack and there is a weakness" - kind of like they didn't know about it. He didn't add, "that's why redesigned the v2 to protect against it". So, that retro-fit to the DS2 would take a long ass time in the design phase which radically cuts into your 2-3 year span between 4 and 6 to bulid it. In fairness, though, we don't see much of the interior of the DS2. Most of what we see of the exterior could simply be studs, floors and outer shell.

Maybe we can start a new thread where we talk about Rogue One and every aspect about it aside from the lead being a female? Maybe that'll eliminate a lot of the snark. I know I'd read a thread specifically banning talk about it because I'm sick of hearing about it.

Anyway, I agree with it not being seen as a design flaw until after it blew up. It'd be so entirely unlikely that they probably never even consider it as a potential possible security or design flaw. I always imagined everyone was freaking the heck out once they found out it blew up. Remember, most of the universe is still under Imperial control and at that point, the Rebellion are pretty much a small faction of domestic terrorists to everyone else.

Yeah that's true. Based purely on dialogue it does seem like they don't know prior to the attack. However, canonically, what improvements does the DSII actually sport? I know the EU states it's bigger, has the corrected exhaust port issue, etc. but none of that is obvious in the movie. The only potential improvement I can see in the movie itself is that it can seemingly fire the superlaser far more frequently but even in that case, it was in a much more target rich environment than in ANH and wasn't having to clear a planet to get a clean shot. So even the DSI might've been capable of that as well for all we know...

Anyone mention the other kind of stormtrooper seen riding the tank?

Here or in one or more of the threads regarding gleanable costume details over in the "Star Wars Costumes and Props" section... Consensus seems to be "intriguing, but not a clear enough look -- need to see more".

Being pedantic here, but the line was "[...] and there is a danger". Subtle niggle, but worth pointing out, as it changes the tone. Like they were still running things down, but they'd noticed the Rebels focusing on one part of the station, and were trying to figure out why -- but knew they wouldn't be rising so much and willing to take suvh losses unless they knew something. Oh, and...

your 2-3 year span between 4 and 6

4.5 years, but yeah.

Well... It sort of is. People with seriously too much time have long since compared angular size at relative distances and other such visual cues to determine that the DSII is substantially larger than its predecessor, and even wha sizes the stations actually would be, rather than the mildly (in the case of the first) to grotesquely (in the case of the second) erroneous figures given in various sources over the years. The DS is about 160km in diameter, versus the DSII's ~500km diameter.

I like to think they "fixed" the exhaust port issue completely unwittingly, just by the nature of making so much bigger a station.

Was the size difference intentional or did the model makers/matte artists/visual compositors simply do their thing, not realizing that people would later analyze and determine what they had done implied the DSII was bigger? I know with me just being a Joe Blow watching the movie, I can't tell it's appreciably bigger and the point that it was bigger was never mentioned in the movie that I recall...which seems like a nice detail to bring up to push the idea this one is even "badder" than the last one.

Well, supposedly JEJ is voicing Vader's rumored appearance but I don't think we've heard any rumors in regards to McDiarmid or any appearance by Palpatine.
