Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

:eekPlease be good,please be good.

I'll make a call. I say this film will outperform expectations, I think Disney is uncertain how is will perform relative to TFA. It won't make TFA money but the analysts on Wall Street who cover Disney don't seem connected to the potential this film could do. I think they made a great one that's going to take many by surprise.

Because she wasn't a Skywalker yet

I meant in universe. She's still a Skywalker, whether that was known at the time of the movie or not...

This is a LEGO page, but it says Jyn Erso is a Sergeant and the AT-ST is in it, Also there's a figure with the TIE Striker fighter that is an Imperial Ground crew member with batons, so I think that seals what some of us said that Jyn is in that disguise, not a TIE Pilot.

That TIE Striker and Krennic's shuttle look so cool. May need to get some SS models of those.

From your keyboard to God's eyes.

What do you think Disney will consider a successful haul on R1's initial run? Would they be genuinely pleased with $500M in NA and $1B WW?

I am as excited for the trailer this Thursday as I was for the TFA trailer last year. I really hope this flick puts the "war" in Star Wars. :)

there's a jedi "holy land" planet, under "occupation" ..? ughh.
they should skip the real-world political allegory, this isn't TNG.
the last thing we need is for SW to make sideways political statements about the "Holy Land".
(we get this enough with Rebels and their cast of hebrew-named characters).
(not that there's anything wrong with that).

just saying: there's a time and a place. and this isn't TNG, it's "fantasy". it should not become a vehicle for religious/political allegory.

.

Modeled after Ottoman Empire-style architecture and Middle Eastern landscapes, Jedha appears to serve as a Star Wars Mecca or Jerusalem, drawing Force devotees and worshipers from across the galaxy..

The article goes on to speculate on just why Jedha is so valuable to both Rebel and Imperial forces..

spare me.

only if the "war" you're talking about is the one in the Middle East.

(with Our Heroes in the role of terrorists).

The one thing I hope they explain is why in ANH most of the Imperials had sideburns,.....I'm hoping for a scene in the film where you can see a poster in a canteen or something reminding the officers to take part in 'Sideburn-ber',....like Movember

People forget that General Dodonna says "May the force be with you." in ANH and Ackbar says "May the force be with us." in ROTJ.

Yah, not crazy about the jedi-religion-holy-land thing.

To me, as a kid, the Force was about believing in myself.
It was about "if you want something bad enough, then make it happen".
It was about trying to levitate pencils during boring history lessons.
It was never about religion.

It's such a simple concept... why do writers feel such a need to overcomplicate it?
I'll still see the movie, but I'm pretty disappointed in Disney right now.

I would think they will look to under promise and over deliver. $500M might be the official estimate but I could see $750M-$1B being a possibility depending on overseas box office. This films cast being heavily Asian and subject matter should play much better in China.
