Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

They said it's a character star wars completists will instantly recognize. You needn't be a completist to recognize a character from the prequels.

Clearly these were designed with subtle hints of Vader's suit. Maybe intended to be a tribute to vader's presence?

Blaster looks like the in-universe version of a "sawed-off E-11"

I'd be curious as to why they didn't use Hugh Quarshie as Captain Panaka again if it is him. May be he couldn't get out of his "Holby City" commitments. He is 61 whilst Forest is 54, but Forest would make a good replacement and there aren't many other characters that would seem to fit the criteria.

Lots of great information in those character listings, really nice to see those Walker variants and its good to see they will be clearing up a lot of the misinformation about the reshoots plus really pushing this forward before the big hit at the Euro Celebration. I'm getting properly excited about this, kind of like I remember for TESB!!!!

I worry when it's mentioned that the reshoots were meant to lighten up the film, it sounds like Disney's trying to water it down.

Thats kind of been debunked.

I hope they have a really good explanation why you never see these troops again as of just before ANH if the timeline is THAT close.

I could care less and can't understand why people can't accept that perhaps the Imperial military had many things we never saw in the OT films.

Glad to hear it, after that dark and gritty SW game got canceled I think a lot of folks were starting to worry Disney was going to water everything down.

If Krennic is in political competition with Vader and the Death Troops are his personal squad then I imagine it won't end well for him when the Rebels get away with the info, and Vader "disbands" his Death Squad (if there are any left alive after all the fighting). Never heard of Saw (never seen CW) but I like the continuity!

I'd like to see the Empire getting it's ass kicked by the end of this film,.....against the odds the band of Rebels win their first victory

....although I do think there will be Rebels willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the cause,....they are the ones we don't see in future episodes

The opening crawl of ANH does indicate that Rebels have recently won their first battle against the Empire and have stolen the plans to the Death Star. Sounds like the R1 story synopsis!

Well ,that is a strong possibility. But remember Vaders key mission in ANH is to find those transmissions that were intercepted during the battle and its clear they make it only to the one ship which the Empire then captures. He then spends a fair amount of time torturing Leia to find out where the Rebel base is and failing, until Han flies her there in the Falcon from the DS. So it seems there is nobody left alive from the Rogue One mission to capture and interrogate other than who is left on the Blockade Runner otherwise the Empire probably would have done so already, particularly Krennic as that is his speciality.
BUT:
We see Jyn at Yarvin early on in the trailer and although we have seen her running and carrying what looks like a data pod towards the Walkers in what might be the final battle I don't see that being handed over to the Rebels physically, as we know the data is beamed off the planet to the waiting Blockade Runner that flies in to intercept it
There is that tall antenna with a radar dish on top of it behind the Walkers in the trailers, so I wonder if thats what they decided to try and reach in a last ditch effort to transmit the data. In the EW cover photo there is also what looks like the Empire base on an island (which makes sense as the tall Walkers would be able to wade between them in the shallow tropical seas). Also we see Krennic wading towards the same place around a lot of blazing wreckage which again suggests a huge final battle on the tropical sea planet.
So do we have a last stand here in which everyone is killed or , if Jyn has been conscripted forceably by the Rebels much against her will, does she make an escape after completing her part of the deal in the chaos of battle when Vader goes chasing after the BR, and disappears back to her "Underworld" life as a smuggler?

One of the things in the reshoot is rumored to be fixing Forest Whittaker's character to look as he did in the trailer. But, there's a lot to be rumored to be going on.

Don't necessarily believe either side of the rumored reshoots. Nothing's been truly debunked, just attempts at damage control.

We know Genevieve O'reilly is in this film. She was first cast as Mon Mothma for EP3. Her scenes were cut, but she can be seen in the background and in the deleted scenes.

I doubt that very much...I would be very surprised if we ever see characters from the prequels again considering Disney is trying to distance themselves from them.

Meanwhile, if I'm not mistaken, that death trooper has one of these (SE-14C) strapped to his hip!

With a single scope mind you. :) Still, that is pretty fantastic IMHO.

Yes,......I know,.....but I want to see the Empire in all it's strength & muscle get a hammering,....not like what we've seen before,....a one shot at a huge target ....(Trade Federation Control Ship/Death Star/Death Star II/ Starkiller Base),.....something different,...

....But I think there will definitely be severe loses for the Rebellion

Why didn't we see TIE Bombers in ROTJ?

What would they be bombing?
