They really should have filmed this in Detroit if they wanted to bring something new to the table. How about actually filming the real detroit and how badly it is decaying?

wouldn't that have been more appropriate for this new "reboot"?

as it stands, its going to be another failure alongside total recall, fright night and other crappy remakes which weren't needed.

It's still cheaper to shoot in Canada most times and Hamilton certainly has it's not so nice areas. Problem with shooting in Detroit in the really bad areas is that they're really bad areas. Insurance for the production goes through the roof.

Which is why nothing is shot in the US anymore between Canada, Mexico, and over in Europe. It's why suddenly Canada is the Pittsburgh area for George Romero movies. This thing is going to have such bad press among Robocop fans I'd be amazed if it lasts a week in theaters. If they wanted to have something like Detroit they could film in Youngstown and I bet it would be cheap.
