Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

thanks alot aron! i've been looking into a TON of micro controllers and found the arduinos to be a bit pricey

Youre welcome, keep in mind that all the items they sell DO NOT come with cables (except the servos). Most of their components use 26 gauge awg wire and terminals and the smallest that radioshack carries is 24. So if you need extra wires and dont buy from them, youll have to risk the larger wire and solder it on. You will also need your own micro usb cable.

The micro maestro uses its own programming language, not the arduino language. The site has resources for teaching you how to program it although it is not easy to understand for beginner programmers. I'll help ya if I can but im still a little ways off before I start hooking up my servos.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

any of you done the thighs yet? This is like the worst Pep ever!!

I've done one of them; you just need to take your time. If you think the thighs are bad, try building a foot.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Version, I did the thighs and shins already not too bad, great fitment too. I am 6'0" and they are the perfect length.

Simple- I thought the foot was very easy compared to the thighs, but thats just me :) I only have to finish the resized cod piece and wait for the spine file and I will be complete with my mark vi pepping, I will get pics posted soon for everyone...

thanks again robo, you do some amazing work, I can unfold files for you if you need anyone too, just let me know

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Why do people keep saying the thighs are so hard? what makes them so difficult?

yea the foot is easy. For some reason half of the pieces of the thighs doesn't line up right.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

I had that problem on certain parts of it too, but on my second thigh that i built it all lined up perfectly ( left side one ) no idea why though

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

@aron42486 - Do you know if the programming language is anything like java or c++ ? I guess it doesn't really matter as long as they follow the basic format everyone seems to be going with now a days since those 2 and Small are all pretty close to the same thing.

thats okay - i've got a load of spare USB cables laying around, and if there the wrong size i'll just grab a few

this is also the right side thigh. Most of the 300+ edges are f'd up.

I have never programmed before so I dont know if it is like anything else. I think I remember hearing that the format was similar to c++, but again I cant verify that. If you have done any kind of basic programming or if you at least sort of understand how programming works, you should be able to figure it out. I've already gotten my servos moving and all of my led modules to light up, just gotta finish my helmet so I can start mounting stuff.

I made the left one too. I'm guessing I should fear the right thigh? LOL!
My trouble with the feet was closing up the boxes (heel and toe) without supergluing my fingers to it.

I have done the entire left leg now, the foot and shin were easy, the thigh was challenging but i have it done. I will try to toss some pics up so people can see and offer suggestions, comments

Well if the glue is a problematic factor for someone i will recommend a cyanocrylate glue, is called super glue or super bonder, but i`m not sure it is available at your places, it dry`s in about 1 and a half or two seconds after press the flap slightly so you can glue very fast compared to white glue and also is very resistant so you can squeeze your piece to glue a difficult part without the risk of braking or something. Luck

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

this IS an awesome pep, when making things its not necessarily hard as it is time consuming and slight nerve wrecking considering that if a few pieces are just slightly off here and there, it will throw the whole model off.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

yea, lining things up is key. if lines are a micrometer off and you glue it crooked, that micrometer will multiply till you have a full millimeter or two off in the end.

Sounds promising, I will have to look into this. Thanks for the info.

Hey robo, what's left to model? Just the spine pieces, thigh additions, and hip pods right? I know you have other projects, but when can we expect to see these released?

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

okay really dumb question i know, but im a bigger guy - in the 160lbs range - and i have about 6 inches total of space between the front of and the sides of my ab section.

any one reccomend a scaling size as i tried a few rescales and there perfect... for a 12 Iron Man...

chest/nack/neck all check out okay and im going to keep my first ab section as its the standard size and i've got a client that can use it

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

uh... u wanna elaborate a bit? i dont get the question

EDIT: actually i thought about it again, and all i can say is uh... situps? im about 290 and 5'10" but im doin an exercise and diet regimen to get down to about 200. try a compression strap or maybe some underarmour to flatten your stomach. 160 is not even in the bigger guy range man. :D
