Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

I officially hate Robo 'cause I've been working on a Mk. III for ages, and his Mk. IV is SO much more complete!

Actually, j/k. Great job Robo, it's all to rare to see anyone step up with the kind of time and effort you've given to the community. /bow.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Here is a neck seal that might work. It's a drysuit neoprene neck seal. It's about $30 dollars
HERE. It seems that black is the only color.

Nice find td! I think NICK's idea is good, to attach pieces to the neoprene seal. Personally, I prefer an actual armor look (even if it means less mobility), instead of the wrinkles and folds you would get with a rubber piece.

To cut and segment together pieces like the neck and abdomen would be the best bet for optimum mobility.

Well guys i have already posted this more or less... but the point is that nobody answered (maybe because of lack of pictures) so i take more pictures taking advantage of mom`s help so i post it here, the fact is that i think the helmet is a tad big for me so i don`t know if i should pep another one or wearing the entire armor it will not look big, i don`t know i want and advice from you guys also i am wearing half the arm for reference in pictures, thank`s in advance for any advice (i need strength to pep another).

Note: As i said before the helmet fit`s right wide so if i made one smaller i will need to reduce just the length and deep so the sacle ratio will suffer, what do you think?

@Dando - i tried the urethane spray and it didnt hold up to well - went to adding an extra step by using a spray adheisive on my pep pages and glueing them down to cardboard. its a bit thicker, but its provides an already strong base so it cuts out the need for fiber glass unless you want added security and waterproof it from the inside before bondo.

@nick - can you still see with the eye slits in the helm?

to any one using a motorized hinge system - are any of you using a micro controller board? if so, which one are you using and how much did it run ya?

Hi Nick, from what I can see in these pictures, the helmet looks a tad big on you. I was adviced by an experienced armor maker once that if you're going to make a wearable prop, make the base model smaller than your actual size coz after you slap on the bondo or MH Ready Patch, it'll be just at the right size. So, if you make your base model exactly the size you need to have it when it's finished, after slapping on the bondo or MH Ready Patch, it'll be too big.

I haven't finished assembling my helmet yet so I can't really compare but I think mine fits snugly on my head with just enough room for comfort. Still need to finish assembling the front part of my helmet but the back is pretty much done.

I hope this helps out a bit.

@azurial - Thanks for the idea as I was hoping i was not screwed from all the time that I have put in. I have Shark's helmet, back, brace, chest, both shoulders, and the right arm all prepped using standard paper and am hoping i can get this to work without starting over.

I understand, that many of you have done pieces twice, but I have a very limited leeway sine I'm married and have a kid.

To all who have posted pictures, thank you, it makes a difference to see the possible results. I will post some shots when i get them.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Question on the shoulder...

Do the two pieces move independently of one another or are they attached in some way? I have looked at some photos and cant seem to find much evidence of either

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

egon: I'm going to try and make them separate, because I can't tell either - I'll probably add a bearing of some form to the round parts

duskullms: nice detailing - I find the gold a bit 'bronze' for my taste, but still excellent!

Hey man thank`s for that but... if you make the paper model smaller than your actual size, adding the fiberglass inside and padding and electronic system for faceplate it will not make it too small to wear?

Visit www.pololu.com. They sell a microcontroller called the Micro Maestro 6 for $19.99. It will let you connect up to 6 servos or a combination of servos and leds. Shipping is a tad much at $11.95, but it is worth it for the insurance and tracking. They also sell some led modules, switches, battery packs, cables, terminals, etc.

It's all up to you if you are happy with the way the helmet is now. I'm guessing that when the rest of your armor is on it will look much better.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!
