Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

It looks okay to me, seems to be proportional to you anyway.

I agree, it seems good and if you fiberglass the inside it will reduce a little bit of it, i don`t think will worth it to pep another one. Luck.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Hey some progress today, a have already pepped the entire right arm this is the first one i build and the last because it fits perfect, and for those who will ask i just measure the length of my arm from half inch above to the top of the palm an it worked.

NOTE: Yes i pepped the elbow but did not attached because run out of tape, and the handplate is missing as is not in the arm file, but will be done soon.

good lookin arm nick - once i finish my torso parts and cod peice im going to do my arms - how ever im going to use the MK II arm files

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Looks great Nick! Did you print that out in letter format and standard scale? I am 5'6" or so in height and a medium build, I hope I don't have to scale down.

Sorry to tell you the bad news, but you're going to have to scale it down to at least 24 (Robo's default is 25.4).

And to Nick, your arm is a tad big.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

i'm not sure it is...at the moment he has the lower part of the forearm sitting outside the upper part....but its designed to sit inside it...so i think if he moves it up in there it should look alright.....

plus the jacket he's wearing would be making it sit lower on his arm as well....

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

I don't think it's off by much, if at all. Once the rest of the armour is added it will probably look just fine.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

actually if you add the elbow, it extends the arm a good two inches because both the forearm and the bicep rotate around the joint made by the elbow. and for the cause of correctness, the wrist piece needs to be about halfway IN the forearm piece, not floating next to it.

that's what it is, LoL, I didn't click on the pic I just instantly saw how the elbows sits.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Well thank`s for comments, the arm fit`s alright is just that i did not add the elbow so i have to sit the forearm in the wrist part to avoid sliding down during the picture, also because of the jacket i was wearing the bicep piece fit too low, i mean when i remove the jacket and add the elbow it will be the perfect size robo is right on that.

Well man i actually print out in 62x100cm to plotter cutting and it has colors and no numbers because is how the pepakura export the file to vector format (to be able to cutter), i am a bit small so i used the 23.6666 scale to the original, but you can do what i said in the pictures post, just measure your arm from about half inch above the shoulder to the wrist and it will give you the right scale for you if you input that in the papakura hight, also it does not change the scale ratio. Luck

I finished Fiberglassing the Neck Seal last night. I put it all together to see how it looks (right collar plate is missing due to being wet from paint). Chest and Back still need lots of work.

Robo, you rock! I love how the spine piece fits into the helmet!

The Neck Seal fits perfectly into the pocket and hole for the neck. So much so, that I had to put the lower ring into position and fiberglass it in place, to make sure it fit once hard (ditto with the second and third ring).

I did have to add a few small triangular shaped pieces to the back to fill a hole between the seal and brace near the spine.

It looks great!! However...
I don't think you will be able to turn your head :lol. To make this usable, I think it's going to have to be cast in latex or similar material.
Like a Robo version of this:

Also, something might have to be done about the gap between the chin and neck (once I get a neck inside mine, I might come up with an idea).

Awesome work Robo!! Keep it up!

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

Hi guys. I have been following this thread for a few weeks, and started working on the project with standard paper (gasp) and finally went through and read all the pages from start to finish to make sure that I was not posting something that was answered. I have coated my pain paper with a polyurethane spray and it feels closer to a card stock feel now. Anyone know if this will compromise things when I go to resin? Will it still stick to it i guess is my question. Also, I still don't understand the purpose of the neck seal, does it give a form factor for casting a rubberized piece for covering the neck since it is obviously in the way for a real neck? Sorry for the stupid questions, I have never done anything like this before. I am making the rest of the suit from card stock now.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

That is shaping up nicely MightyJohn! Very inspiring to see these WIP postings. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Nick! I guess we'll see what happens later after I assemble it! LOL!:lol

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - neck seal!

one thing you could do is after resining and fiberglassing, cut the individual rings of the neckseal out and add about an inch of hard material around the bottom of each piece, connecting to the other rings by elastic, thereby making a bendable hard seal.
