anyone who had ironman boots?

There are a couple of Models out there, personally i dont like them, and i would highly recomend you to wait for Robo to get his model done, its the best i've seen so far and will match with the rest of the armor right Robo?

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - 27/6 first post rewritten, RIGHT LEG in first p

Robo, I know your familiar with Finheads MK III Build, when you do the boots, your scaling has been thus far the same as Dancin Fools standard (1.424000), although the numbers are different. Finheads boot bolts are that scale (an average 6') build and would then be interchangeable.

Sorry had a liitle to much Vino tonight....

Your boots should be about the same scale PM for measurements, becuase the bolts and boots are the same!

Also the Knee, and elbow bolts are interchangelable....

Also, @Sharkhead if your still around I found that closer inspection revaeals....

in Iron Man he had the fancy cheek pieces, as was more prominently seen and associated with the MK IV, and MK VI helmet from Iron Man 2

This is from Gulmira right before he guns down the 10 rings thugs holding hostages...

Im gonna try it out. i will post results lol overall it must be easier... at least thats what i think :confused.
Anyone has any oppinion about it? personally i've never done this (joining edges)before but looks quite promissing...

telling right now, what you wanted to do isn't going to work.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - 27/6 first post rewritten, RIGHT LEG in first p

if you dont like tiny flaps, just use masking tape on the inside of the model.

my only gripe is when flaps are too long. the forearm for example has some small raised edges on the rear of the model and the triangular shaped protrusions are very small, but the flaps are much too big to attach properly.

heads up for the people who want to make the jaw on their helmets to open. Look up some Lego Technic actuators. It should work.

He robo3687, sorry it took so long to post pics of my leg. I've been getting geared up for a new job and just haven't had time, but here's what I have so far.

The fit between parts is pretty good, but I think it'll improve once I figure out how to paint on the resin. I also have an arm and the abs done, but haven't figured out how to attach 'em to my pipe dummy.

Leg lokks good!

Also of Interest, on the original fabricated suits, fuax leather was sewed in bands like the TNG Klingon armor, this was flexible and looked like the strips of metal that were seen in the elbow and back of knee areas....

@ Robo, I will send that e-mail, and measurements today!

just finished the cod piece. I actually didn't add the piece over the waist area. Then I'll do more modifying on it once it's hardened. Hint - for restroom breaks.

I also made a dummy out of cardboard that's the same dimension as my body. This will help me make a better fit because I will have all the parts on it when I apply EpoxAmite on.

@Simple: VersionUp posted a good way to hold them with cardboard you should try it out on your pipe (newspaper to give it some body might also work well)

simple, we have also done the abs, but noticed they are in about 20 seperate pieces when they are done. how do you intend on joining the parts? i did ask this before but nobody replied :( for the time being i have taped them together. are they meant to be fiberglassed seperately.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - 27/6 first post rewritten, RIGHT LEG in first p

fiberglass separately, and then rivet them together, making one piece slightly slotted vertically to allow bending and compression when leaning forward per rivet.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - 27/6 first post rewritten, RIGHT LEG in first p

will it be impossible to wear if it is fiberglassed as 1 solid piece?

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - 27/6 first post rewritten, RIGHT LEG in first p

Yeah - I hear you on the abs. Once I figure out how the parts go together, I'm looking at industrial velcro (?) to hold most of it together. Not sure I plan on wearing the suit, or just having a statue.

I won't fiberglass them as one piece. My idea is cutting slots (yellow) on the pieces, then run some vinyl strips thru them, and glued on the flat parts of yhe pieces (orange). I'll do this once the abs pieces are hardened. I will also have the abs connected to the chest brace (or make some "suspenders") w/ side release buckles.

I actually made the legs and they're also the same dimensions as my legs. The advantage of it is pretty much you can brush on (or spray) some EpoxAmite on the outside of the pieces while it's taped on the dummy so you can get a better shape (and fit) of the armor to your body. Also helps out if you're going to fabricate "suspenders" and "garter belts" for your pieces.

should i mold the helmet in 3 pieces, 2 pieces or just one piece and cut it? which is the best method for getting all the details really good and leaving little work after the mold?

I'm gonna mold mine in 3 pieces (chin, face, dome). I don't think you should have to cut a mold. A mold should be a finished product (maybe some fine sanding).
