robo3687's Iron Man Pep Files - SD War Machine links page 73

Robo im back! i have more current progress on my 405th site though.
This person did a really good job on the build and the helmet looks halfway decent even without bondo or joint compound:

This person was obviously not using very good pep files to begin with but it is a good example of the edges you will get if you dont use bondo or joint compound:

You get the idea... all the edges, corners, and overlaps you have in your pep build will still show up. Also, you wont be able to put in any of the body lines without the extra thickness of the bondo/joint compound. You could always draw them on i guess. If you are not going to smooth it out I would recommend building your project without tabs and try to curve the cardstock/cardboard to get the shape of the piece as close to the real deal as you can. Good Luck.

darkside501st, that second suit was mine :p and was done when i was 11(I think) but this photo also shows the importance of sizing. and warping haha.

HaHa, small world... i found that pic on an image search. Yeah, sizing is important and making sure your parts are reinforced sufficiently to prevent warping is also very important. I'm glad I didn't rag on you too hard, lol.

Quick question:
Did anyone build the foot yet? I'm wondering how I should go about resining it? Should I fill up both the heel and toe support? What's your trick about it?

I really like the model, although I'm already 6'3" so I'll be a giant if I use the extra 3-4 inches :)

You might want to go with the easier boots included with the War Machine armor files. If you do go with the MK4/6 boot files you might want to use a pretty thick layer of resin. I've seen a couple of people fill the inside with resin, and i have even thought about building up really thick layers of resin then filling with Liquid Latex.

Hello friends, I am new to this site, but I'm too fond of all kinds of modeling and in particular the assembly of robo3687 suit. I really liked this model and the sweep and I hope the suit will be successful and in this thread, I learned many new and useful for yourself.

I have to show this off to you guys! I did have to rush it a little so its not perfect but i was able to get the "mask" part of it really good! I can take it off and finish up the rest of the helmet later!

All of Robo3687's files should be here: Iron Man Pep Files.rar - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

He has the link on the first post.

Hey guys
I've downloaded the files for this build but whenever I try to open the files pepakura crashes. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know if it's my actual program or the files.
Thanks

Hey All,

I am completely new to this and am looking to build an Iron man armor. I just joined RPF and I downloaded the pepekura viewer. I then downloaded the Iron man armor files here. For some reason the Pep viewer doesnt seem to recognize the files.
Do I need the pepekura designer software? Or am I doing something wrong? Any helpful info much appreciated.

I just noticed the file extension on the pep file was rar. and the samples in the pep viewer are pdo. Not sure what to do about this.

.rar is a compression format. You need to uncompress the folder to get the pdo files out. Look up a program called Winrar.
