River Songs TARDIS journal for a price the masses can afford!

Hey cool, they made it even cheaper.

As a journal it's great, as a replica it's biggest failing is that it's perfect bound instead of stitched. I'll probably pick one up, but my prioriites are elsewhere for now.

Unless I take it apart, I doubt I would ever see the binding to tell the difference! Though I know that a perfect binding is more prone to pages coming loose over time. For me, this will be close enough.

The binding in the original is set about 1/4" from the spine, you can easily see the difference looking at it from the top or bottom. So not a huge difference to the casual observer, but as a prop replica it fails in that you can't distress it and cause the spine to separate like the real thing.

You can't see it in the picture, but if the measurements provided are accurate, it's also about 5/8" too thick.

This is the perfect, "every day, carry with you and use it" replica. The ones you make are the "Place of honor in the collection" replicas!

But, this is clearly meant to be the "New" version of the journal that The Doctor leaves on her end table at the end of LKH, not the old distressed one from SITL. Look at the spine binding, clearly different than the 'old version' we saw first.

It looks pretty nice to me. Does anyone have any more pics of it? Being handled at a con or anything? I'm kind of afraid it will have a big BBC logo on it somewhere.

Awesome! Weather or not its extremely accurate, its certainly much better than mine :D I cant wait to get my hands on one! Thanks for the find NMR!

Nice! I'll probably pick one of these up while at SDCC.

Risu, I'm using one of your diaries for signatures. While the first page is reserved for Alex Kingston, Freema was the first to actually sign it.

That's awesome!

The brand new one in LKH (aside from being real leather) is identical to the specs of the Library book, they just haven't stretched the spine out. Trust me on this, I've been staring at the thing for 4 years.

I see a different 'spine' between the two books every time I look at them! The 'new' version has a beefier spine and a flatter, thinner cover, whereas the 'old' version has a thinner spine and a much thicker cover. So in the context of this replica, it emulates the 'new' version, so I would not need to split the spine just yet.

Yea, the thickness of the leather used to add depth to the spine and cover varies. The original also shows that depth better because it's not bound in leather.

IF supplies are left after SDCC they'll ship one to you if you preorder. So. Good luck.

Yeah that's really beyond infuriating, it's like.. here, let's advertise this thing that you can pre-order but not buy unless you can pause life and afford to go to the biggest Con of the year..

Not to mention that it's practically a private member's only con at this point.

And no, I'm not making them any more. I have a job now, I don't need the $4 an hour they brought in.
