I know, here's to hoping that we were the first few to pre-order them. My guess is though, that if they sell really well, BBF will 'figure out' that a few more need to hit the shelves. But my guess is that the 550 figure is to go with the 50th anniversary. Why 550? Well, because a run of just 50 would cost a whle lot more!

So I went over to entertainment earth's site to change my shipping address on the off-chance they honor their pre-orders & the journal looks WAY different than before..

Am I going nuts or does that look different than what was advertised before?

The closed journal picture has square edges, the open small picture has rounded. So...No your not going nuts. Very different to the original photo.

I agree it's different.
I also don't think the original image showed the River / Cleopatra picture as a page of the book. It kind of implied it was a little extra piece of art.

The picture and description HAS changed. I feel they really should have emailed everyone who pre-ordered this to let them know.

Here is the original:

Entertainment Earth Convention Exclusive! Celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who, Bif Bang Pow! produced this stunning high-quality journal given by the Doctor to his wife. River Song's Deluxe Journal is a fully usable journal that measures 7 1/4-inches tall x 5 1/4-inches wide x 1 5/8-inches thick and contains 520 textured-paper pages. The embossed leather-like vinyl hardcover mimics the look of the TARDIS. Be sure to look inside for a unique page of artwork that contains a secret hidden message!

Of all the people who have traveled with the Doctor, River Song is the most enigmatic of all. She always seems to be one step ahead of the Doctor, even when he's in her past. Nobody has been able to figure out how River knows the Doctor so well, although there have been plenty of guesses! River carries a small blue book with her wherever she goes, which seems to be a diary of her past and the Doctor's future. Whatever is written within, River will only say one word about her book - "Spoilers!"

TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space and looks just like a wooden Police phone box from the 1950s on the outside, but is of infinite proportions on the inside. This incredible time machine is piloted by the Doctor, a mysterious Time Lord, and is able to transport him anywhere through time and space, disappearing in one place and reappearing somewhere new.

Produced by the BBC, Doctor Who is the longest-running sci-fi TV series in the world. The award-winning show presents the adventures of a time traveler known simply as "the Doctor." Along with his companions, this mysterious Time Lord journeys through time and space using his TARDIS, which appears from the outside to be an ordinary police phone booth.

Size: 520 pages

The original had no warning about it selling out and the new page shows it's limited to only 550 copies. The original had it listed as having 520 pages, while the new one is 440 pages.
It looks like this will sell out and the scalpers will get their claws into it like a lot of other SDCC exclusives and it'll sell on ebay for $200 in a few weeks.

Wow. I clicked on the link and wondered why anyone was excited by that... now that I see what the original ad looked like, I see the excitement. If the actual product looked like that, I'd be all over it. But not the cartoon version they're advertising now.

Think the original picture they had is one made by an RPF member? Because I don't think it's of the prop and it's CERTAINLY not of their product.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one who thinks the new version looks like crap.. very box-y looking and hardly any detail to the spine, even the color looks off for even a weathered version of the journal.

Holy crap, that new picture looks AWFUL. I've seen a TON of bad River diaries, but that one ranks.

They took everything great about the prototype and completely screwed it up! I would give $25.00 for that, but not $70.00 (Shipped)

The face of it is not even accurate! No middle 'rib' section between the 'doors', the spine, ugrh, so MUCH wrong with it. I guess they figured the masses would just drop $70.00 on because it's in a package labeled Doctor Who!

Yep, it really looks no better than what you can find on Etsy now..

Just a bit of info for everyone: I spoke with a rep. from Entertainment Earth and apparently the BBC did not approve the original image, and as such had the folks working on this journal rework it. What we see now on the site is the final version that was reviewed/approved by the BBC. *shrug*

just got off the phone with EE. They told me that the BBC rejected the original prototype and instead approved the one we now see. He asked if I still wanted to cancel my order knowing that they will not produce one that looks like the original prototype. I told him that was the reason WHY I wanted to cancel it. So, the BBC does not want us to have a journal that looks like the journal from the show.

This of course, is after they cut an entire 13 episode series from me and only gave me a half season each for the last two years!

Let's hope that they don't screw up the new Sonic remote that the Wand Company is working on and 'approve' a sonic that is twice as wide and half as long as the real one!
