Something about the CG in the trailer makes me think of the monkeys in Jumanji for some reason.
...my wife who for the most part hates anything I like watched the trailer and said that looks like a d### good movie.
Well, it's not like the original five were that internally consistent to begin with.![]()
Forgive my ignorance (I loved POTA but I have forgotten some details) but so I am straight...
Franco is the Ricardo M. character, right? (In a loose way at least?)
Also...again forgive my ignorance...
Caeser is the son of Cornelius, right?
(Cornelius and Zira go back in time, they have Caeser, they then die, then Caeser starts the ape revolution. So basically, the only reason the apes took over was because Cornelius and Zira went back in time..the whole paradox thing and stuff.)
Am I right? Just want to make sure I have that right before seeiing the movie. I could Wiki it..but I am lazy.
I think the intent is a re-imagining of the beginning of the Planet of the Apes.
No Zira and Cornelius but Caesar is still the start of the revolution.
I'm a huge POTA fan and I heard about this movie two years ago, they had the original title called "Caesar" then it changed to "Caesar: Rise of the Apes" and then to "Rise of the Apes" but I think all along it was to be called "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" which is it's final title because in an article I read two years ago they stated the POTA franchise was getting a reboot and "episode 1" was to start off with Caesar rising to power. I believe in that same article it was mentioned that they plan on making 3 or 4 films after this one but I can't remember the actual number of films to come (I need to find that article and post it here).
I'm a big POTA fan in fact I own a screen used Gorilla soldier costume from "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" complete with Shirt, vest, bandolier, pants, club, rifle, boots, ammo pouches and backpack. I've also identified the costume in a scene, the scene when the ape army is leaving ape city they are crossing the bridge and the camera has a shot of ape soldiers coming to the camera and the soldier with the club on his side is the ape costume I own as his bandolier matches up to mine with the same scuff marks.

I concur. I'm almost positive this is a re-imagining (reboot?) of the story told in the original five films. However...I think the intent is a re-imagining of the beginning of the Planet of the Apes.
No Zira and Cornelius but Caesar is still the start of the revolution.
...as I stated above, I don't think this is a prequel to the original films but a re-imagining/reboot of the franchise from a new perspective. In this version Caesar is the result of genetic experimentation, and is not the already advanced/evolved child of Zira and Cornelius. If this is a Prequel to the original Planet of the apes then this is pre Cornelius and Zira travelling back in time.
If you recall, in Conquest for the Planet of the Apes Caesar chose his own name by flipping to a "random" page in a book of names and pointing to one (Armando calls him Caesar early in the film; clearly he is selecting the name he has already been given). The name Caesar must have come from Armando, because in Escape from the Planet of the Apes Zira and Cornelius name him Milo (after their deceased colleague).I'm sure and i may be mistaken that ceasar (cornelius and Ziras off spring) is named after the Lawgiver who first wrote down the sacred Scrolls (ape law) so my thinking is that this Caeser is the original Lawgiver that Apes worship ............... :wacko now im confused
