Unlimited Run Rick Deckard Blade Runner 1982 Trench Coat By ELS

Hey all,
I just want to let you know, this steveboski current coat chest size is 50".5 although he submitted chest size 41.5".(body).
So, we added 10" room, that gives you baggy look.

AWESOME WORK Jameel!!!

I'm even more eager to receive mine in the mail. However, looking at the craftsmanship and all the little details we collectively worked out in this thread, it is all there.

I too ordered a baggy coat.

Are you doing this with all of them? I want the baggy look as well.

Just curious when people ordered is there anyone on here that ordered that ordered the more baggy fit?
I would expect they all should have a more baggy fit to match the source material. It is after all an overcoat meant to be worn over a sport coat.
At least I hope that's the case...

I think 10 inches room gives you a good baggy look.
We have long weekend here as I'll get back to work I'll take a new images with a person who has 40-42 chest size.
Then we can understand how coat looks like.
So they will all have this added 10 inch dimension... Based on the sized chart I assumed I was around a size large which is what I typically wear (sometimes a medium fits - it just depends). However I wear a size 42 -43 in a suit coat and the chest size in your size chart indicates a large to have a 48 inch measurement. That's only an added 6 inches... so which will it be? Or is it based on sizing up the exact measurements of the suit jacket I sent to provide room?

If your chest size is 42, then add 10" room.
I'll send you messages about your coat sizes soon.

I just want to let you know, how coat/ jacket size works.
As much as big chest size so armhole would be half of chest size, and bicep depends on armhole size.
this is the whole construction formula.
10 inches room won't work on bigger sizes, like if anyone has 50" chest size then we have to add more than 10 inches.
We have to see separatly each case/ coat size.

I hope this will help you better understand.
Tahnks.

I don't completely understand - But I trust you. You're the expert.
Cheers

I think the real trick to this coat (besides the collar shape and size and overall color) is the fit. To me, it looks like the tailor made Ford's coat a bit big, made the fit a bit sloppy, sort of disheveled looking. Since we're all different sizes, getting that sizing part correct will be interesting. It's difficult to gauge on the mannequin or even a person when we don't know the model's size. For reference on the coat currently being finished, I'm 5'9" 170 lbs, so comparing that to the mannequin measurements or the model's will give us a better idea.

Just adding a bit of levity to the thread. Not adding anything to the current conversation but just something new to notice for those of us eagerly awaiting our new coats.

I found this picture of Ford with his stunt performer. Jameel Ur and others were correct that there were at least two coats made for the film.

There multiples (which is pretty standard) and from what I can tell, at least two that are slightly different in their construction.

True, there are few versions( although I said two versions).
There are different details on them like, back plated vent and without, front pockets placement change, collar tab change and collar size very in those version.
However, we are doing our this final version.
Pocket placment would be changed as per coat size.

Some differences are aesthetic, some are how the coats were constructed and (as far as I can tell) function. Especially noticeable when the jacket is wet.

There isn't much info on the production of this jacket - a lot of the costuming info for Blade Runner is about Rachel, but Mark Dubeau and myself put a lot of time into researching the jacket over the years. A lot of that was posted in my thread and on my YouTube videos.

I encouraged you to post in my thread and for people to move over to this thread after you started to derail my build thread by posting that you were selling a version.

I was hoping to give you some space in my thread to share your work after you got bombarded in the K thread. Which I defended you on - as people were making very harsh demands. Frankly I don't think that favor was returned with crediting anyone for the info used to make your offering.

The back vent was noted by a few folks, I believe it was also designed that way on a few licensed products. I'm not sure who first noticed it, but Jakub Kylar posted several years back in a Facebook thread about it - which is where I first came across that info and credited them in a YouTube video (if memory serves)

Thank you Egon,
Although I spent whole day to understand what you wrote. LOL.
Definitely, you spent much time to researching and exploring Deckard coat details.
I gethread many images form internet and many of shared RPF memebers here, then I anlaisesd with my experince.
I tried many mockups, and changed design when I found any single details.
I'm still on the way, exploring more, at the some stage in future I can offer 2 versions of coat with different details but not this moment.
Your encouraged, critic and suggetion always wlecomed.

Thank you,
