Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

I wasn't happy with using the PVC for the middle of the staff to make it connect in the middle and after chatting with one of my friends who makes 300 Spartan spears Jon Wollock...he gave me the idea to use these threaded inserts.

This will allow the staff to come apart like a pool cue

So finally after following this thread for months I'm starting to make some progress. Today I finished making the pouch. I used the signals 37 bag and cut it down. I have never worked with canvas before and I have broken all my seam rippers and several needles :')

Nevertheless here it is

It's not 100% perfect but it's close enough for me :)

Now it's time to start working on the bracer and the belt.

Looks good! Great Job :thumbsup

Question for those who have modified the signal satchel: how are you all removing the "SIGNAL SATCHEL" print on top? That's the one piece I can't quite figure out, and I'd hate to screw it up.

I used a wire brush.

Yep. It's a stonewashed crepe, so there wasn't much sheen to begin with, and dyeing pretty much eliminated what was left. (I used soda ash when I dyed them gray, which you aren't normally supposed to do with silk since it dulls the shine, but in this instance that was exactly what I wanted.)

Great! I think I may order that fabric for my pants. :)

As for the satchel, I let mine soak in a bucket of water and Woolite and then scrubbed at it quite a bit - all the lettering came off.

Looks good....

I believe the lines are etched into the canister though (i know mine were) you could just draw them on... but you might also go back to your clay sculpt and etch them in and then re-mold.

Either way...looks good :thumbsup

I should have described it in a bit more detail. My original was 3D printed and smoothed and this is the resin cast. I intend to etch the lines into this one and re-cast. That way, since I am still learning I can experiment with the grooves on this one and not damage my original. I also just tried slush casting to get a hollow, and thereby much lighter version.

:)

Where does the small square piece in the center of the bag template go? We can't figure that bit out.

Boots are complete! I want to go back and drybrush the wool with some gray acryllic paint to make them look a bit more like the real Po-Zu's, but I think I got pretty close.

I made these with brown basketweave wool that I felted in the washer/dryer, white wool felt to line the shaft, cork leather, and a pair of suede Ugg-type boots I bought on Ebay and seam-ripped the shaft off. The original boots:

I've never tried to modify boots before, so I'm one proud cosplayer right now. :)

Ok that makes sense. Would make more sense if there was a 2x on the diagram. Since there was only one we were like where does this go.
Thanks!

Divison6 put "x2" on his diagram in each place where there were meant to be 2 of that piece. They can be seen even above in Conny's re-posting of the original diagram.

I admit it would be difficult to work out where each piece fits if you've not had the item physically in your hands to see how it goes together, so in that case the picture that Conny has re-posted of my pouch with the numbers overlaid makes it much easier to work out.

****EDIT****

Oh, wait, I get you. You were saying he didn't put "x2" on the edge bias bit. you're absolutely right about that... missed it till I'd went back and looked again. :wacko

Kristenhenry70, when you dyed your viscose did you add salt or vinegar to the dye bath? Or nothing? I'm not sure exactly what fiber type viscose falls under. The color you got looks perfect, so I was curious.

Contec, how do you attach the lid? I have everything made, it's just the final assembly step that's eluding me:wacko
