Limited Run Rey Goggles (Made to Order) from The Force Awakens

No ANOVOS for me. I'm a supporter of the little guys whenever I can type person.

And even if I wasn't, there's no way I'd not support you personally, Kristen. You've literally *given* me parts of my costume. Um...yeah. Paying it forward here.

Oh, and? Plus? I find that hobby propmakers make better stuff, in general, than mass-produced company things.

I'm still in. No question.

Thank you all!

I'm gearing up for run #4 now that run#3 is finished. I've just placed my order for lenses, so as soon as those roll in the building shall commence!

PS...peace and prayers to the families of those slain in Dallas...and prayers also that those in high positions of authority will STOP this race baiting...STOP using these horrible acts to sow division among all Americans, and that we can finally elect a leader who actually loves this country enough to see that this sort of racial divide becomes a thing of the past.

We are ALL citizens of the greatest nation on Earth... we ALL need to start acting like it.

Front page updated.

Everyone in Run #3 has now received their goggles (with the exception of EmmaInCandyland) who has made arrangements to delay hers slightly) so I'm super excited to hear how you all like them

If you get a chance, take a pic of yourself wearing them with your costume. I miss my babies...I want face time with them. :)

After seeing your work I'd take yours over a company's any day! Handmade with love is always better!

We're well on our way!

Half of run#4 is paid for, and lenses are being shipped to me today. i should be able to begin primary construction by Wed or Thurs of this week. I'll be looking to fire through this at the same pace as the past three runs...so it shouldn't be long.

Those on run#4 who have not yet paid:

Max Jenius
Westies14
Berbs42
Marvelgirl83

Please send payment at this time to the email address you were given in your individual PMs. I'd like to be able to ship all eight of these out at the same time. :thumbsup

Lenses have arrived!!!!

Tomorrow (my day off) will be build day. The only component not in my possession ATM are the battery cases...which should be here either tomorrow or Friday. So tomorrow I shall build like mad, and aim to have these complete before the weekend. Then depending on when the battery cases arrive, i can get the wiring assembled and installed into the lights...and with a bit of luck these will be ready to ship by mid-week next week. :thumbsup

Just an update on the four people still left to pay....
@Max Jenius has contacted me to get a shipping quote.
@Westies14 has contacted me and made arrangements.

the remaining two of you:

@Berbs42
@Marvelgirl83

I still have not heard from you. Please do drop me a line ASAP and let me know your status. I want to ship these all at the same time, (as I have done with each run in the past) and so i expect payment to be made before they ship, which will likely be the middle of next week.

If I haven't received payment by the time the run is ready to ship, i will be moving those that i have not heard from to the end of the waiting lists, and the next people in line for run #5 will be advanced into this run, payment will be collected and the goggles that were made for you will go to them.

I don't want to sound harsh... that's not my intention. I just want to keep things moving smoothly and to have my materials and work paid for before I ship them out to you all. Everyone so far has been right on time with their payments...and I truly appreciate it...excepting one fellow from the last run--who lost their spot to jedi eddy (who in turn paid very promptly). So let's do keep the goodwill train rolling forward, shall we? :D

****UPDATE****
@Berbs42 has asked to be moved to the end of run #7.

This means I have now added @AB07 to the current run, and have PMed them requesting payment.

I still have one person from run #4 to hear from, and have notified the next in line in run #5 to stand ready in case they are called up.

Also this means that everyone else has advanced one space ahead...so you may want to check your new slot on the list, and plan accordingly :thumbsup

Just wanted to pop on here and ask that you PM me when it's time for me to pay, Kristen. It looks like that's what you do, but I'm not so great at getting here sometimes, so it would be appreciated. Thanks again for all your hard work!

another minor update...
Marvelgirl83 has asked to be removed from all lists, so that means darthfoster has been bumped up to this run, and everyone else has advanced yet another slot.

We also now have an open slot on run #7... so if there are any others out there wanting to jump in...now's the time.

Okay....

So another from run #4 has flaked, and so I've adjusted everyone up another spot.

This is putting me in a quandry.... how many people are sitting on my waiting lists actually not wanting my goggles anymore? I mean, I don't find out until i ask for payment, and then they just say "Ah...no thanks. I don't want them now.:"

WTF.

This is exactly the reason why I have:

A. Not taken money up front... because i don't want someone having to put their money out and them wait and wait. i also don't want to have to send a bunch of refunds because people have become fickle.

B. Have worked my hiney off to get the runs finished and shipped quickly and together...so that everyone has what they paid for in a timely fashion.

C. Have posted regular pictorial updates so that everyone sees progress and still feels engaged in the project.

So I dunno.... what do i do now...? Just continue to ask for the next person in line to pay for what they spoke for, and just *hope* that eventually one of them actually does? I know this is sounding very like a rant...and I apologize for that. Up till now, everyone--and I mean EVERYONE--has been right there to pay their share when I've asked. So why now, all of a sudden? I mean, I've done things the exact same way as before...and anyway I've got run #4 going much sooner than even I had anticipated. You would think those on the list would be thrilled to be getting their turn sooner.

I suppose that's a bit unfair... 3/4 of the run#4 crowd paid me the very first day I'd asked. It's been the other 1/4 which has turned into a revolving game of don't respond/don't want anymore and I keep advancing people from later lists (thinking they will be delighted to get their chance sooner) and instead I keep getting either no responses or declines.

I have half a mind to ask everyone remaining on a wait list to respond here that they do in fact still want goggles, and possibly to ask for a deposit. I *hate* to do that... I know everyone else does, and this is probably why.

Perhaps being the nice girl isn't the best approach...?

OK... rant over.

Now, let's see what I've been working on instead...

A new Army is being raised! I have primary construction complete on the entire run, and have cut out the pigskin as well. Tonight it will be on to stitching and installation of the hard parts.

Speaking of stitching...

A bit ago, Westies14 mentioned that i might want to adjust my stitching to look a bit more screen accurate. I whipped up this pattern... what do you all think?

Here's a comparison from run #3:

It's a subtle difference...and it takes much longer to do it this way, as instead of being able to use a four hole punch tool I have to punch each hole individually. But if the overall look is more correct, I'd rather take the time and make it look better.

Hi Kristen,

The new stitching looks fantastic! I would prefer the more accurate but I will take them either way.

As for the other people flaking, I would require people to reconfirm since you are now running into that issue. I wouldn't hesitate to require a deposit either. Then you really know who is committed. As you know, I wanted to pay long before my run came up; the full amount. I know why you don't want to do that but at this point, I think I would allow people to pay a deposit or in full. This commits them to the project and there's nothing wrong with that. My $.02.
