Rey Alternate Outfit? (possible spoilers)

I think we bought some from Yayahan. To color it, I put a base brown coat of spray paint and then a very sparse layer of black spray paint to match the belt. It is too dark and I am going to remake it in veg tan leather. This approach works great if you don't care about leather. :)

One word of note: make sure your belt can properly hold the weight of your blaster. Mine is made out of wood and the belt slouches too much due to inadequate support.

Where did you get the Worbla? and what are you doing to color it? I've been thinking of going this route for the holster and the belt!

I can't say where to buy Worbla in the US but you can simply paint it with acrylics.

Worbla has a rough surface structure though, if you don't like that you have to prime it first. Some people use Gesso and similar stuff (and a lot of layers of it), problem with that is that you have to sand it afterwards.
I myself prefer wood glue. You just need a few layers of it and you get a smooth surface without having to sand it down. Also it is no problem to paint the dried glue with acrylics afterwards.

To protect the color from weather or rubbing off etc. you might want to hit it with a varnish.

Also Worbla's Finest Art is rougher than the newer Worbla's Black Art. The black Worbla is way smoother and therefore you need less priming with wood glue etc. to get a smooth surface but it is also a little bit more expensive.

I thought this thread would be blowing up more with the Blu Ray out! Going to start trying to get this done for my wife in time for Megacon next month!

Very nice build....haven't been watching....Im doing Luke TFA....growing out my beard while im making the outfit....

I've been searching for fabric for the vest and the closest I've found is this Shetland Wool Low Contrast Herringbone Twill Tweed. This specific cloth appears to no longer be available :( but I do think I've found fabrics closer to the correct texture since I've started searching for Shetland and sometimes Cheviot or Harris Tweed. Unfortunately these are definitely higher quality cloths and can get pretty pricey, especially for those of us in the US, because they all come from the UK unless you can find a re-seller somewhere like Etsy or Ebay. I haven't been able to track another down that (IMO) comes as close as this one, though.

Since I'm on a deadline I ended up buying a wool remnant on Etsy that isn't actually herringbone but does at least seem to have the right twill and texture.

Hey ya'll. I've been following along - since I've been commissioned to build this for a client. I took some photos from the apple tv and noticed her pants knee pads have an accent color. It shows more on the right leg.

question for the sewing pros here. Is the stitching that goes over the edges something you can do with a sewing machine or is it hand done?

It's been killing me trying to find pants for this build, i'm a guy so I'm not sure where I can find equivalent pants to turn into capri's or capri's in general

If anyone is still looking for pattern help for the vest, I'm about to try and use Butterick B4669 and New Look 6251 as bases for my second attempt at the vest. wish me luck!!

I cracked into 6251 this week and transferred B pieces onto card stock. To make this accurate what i see is the back seams will need to be moved inward to around even with the neck area, the front and front side panel will need to be combined into one to remove the front vertical seam, and the waist seam will need to be added. Also the collar will need to be integrated into the neck instead of a separate piece....which i really have no idea how to do.

I am hoping to make the out of the package version of it with scrap fabric just to see how it looks. Making this vest could take some time.

Just started construction! Here's the shirt. The Jalie 2910 pattern is perfect. I purchased the fabric at Calico Corners. 100% Cotton and the weave matches the on screen photo. May need to do a "tea bath"....

Did you add the yoke in the back yourself? I'm not finding a rear view of the pattern, but it seems too good to be true that it would have that particular detail!

The back didn't have a yoke. I tried adding a topstich to make it, but the line was too faint. So, I just cut the fabric in the similar shape as the picture, and sewed them back together. really easy.

Oh my goodness, great find! I'll have to snag that pattern for when I re-do mine!

FYI, for those who are also in Rebel Legion, the costume standards are up over there for open debate for the next week or so. They look good so far, but if you wanna give your two cents, now is the time to speak or forever hold your piece! I had to make a note of two adjustments to the standard, but there might be more I missed.
