In the old model I used 0.5mm, drilled about 1000 holes. I drilled and installed them after painting.
I used the end blooming method, which facilitates the installation of FOs but makes them look bigger than they are, so wherever I could reach I clipped the bloomed end off.

That older model should be taken as an example of what NOT to do, I did so many things in the completely incorrect order

Much appreciated and I'm sure I'll have questions. I've been reading through and its got me fired up to build mine, just no space to do so atm. following this in the mean time.
