Arnie of Star Wars ActionNews snapped this pic while in Essen for the con. It looks like much larger scale kit as opposed to the more 1/72 ships they have made in the past. Anyone know anything else about this?

It's supposedly 1/30 scale I believe. Its supposed to be out this year. October maybe?

Looks like a scale up of their 1/56 ish easy kit detail wise.

I could be wrong, but it appears that the heat sinks for are painted like they are on the current pocket and easy kits instead of being molded detail. :cry

Oh well, it wouldn't be a Revell kit if it didn't need some missing details replaced/created. Size wise though, it's great for super detailing and adding lighting effects

I had heard about this a while back, is there a release date? I'm very keen to get hold of one, Revell's kits are superb to work onto, not massively detailed but just enough to demand some enjoyable kitbashing.

This comes out from Revell Germany in October
its 1/30 scale measures approx 41cm ~16,1 inches

The Kit will have 62 parts

At least with more parts it can be paint stripped and diy'd.scratch for missing stuff, they should have made an unpaint kit tyoe people are more use to.obvioudly these easy kits seem popular, I only ever bought one for someone else and saw it built, they built it like a pigz ear but I saw revell saw fit to have painted parts where yhee were sprue conbections.

I mean obviously thats what you do, have color where theres snipping to be done.it was that arc thingy!
:/

The current 1:57 kit only has 38 parts, so something more than just the size has changed.

I found this video: STAR WARS REVELL MODEL KIT STAND - CELEBRATION EUROPE 2 - MESSE ESSEN, GERMANY 2013 - YouTube

On the box photo it looks like the heat sinks may have some molded detail on the front (albeit not very deep), and they managed to get all the droid strip details the right way around this time. There seems to be more detail in the cockpit, but the torpedo tubes still look painted on.

I'm currently building the 1:57 and, as far as I can see, there doesn't appear to be anything fundamentally wrong with it that can't be fixed with a bit of cutting and detailing.

The October date should be firm as Revell USA had a fully painted final production shot on display at their table at the IPMS USA Nationals in Loveland, CO three weeks ago. Indeed it does look like scaling data from the previous Revell X-Wings was used, so there are some similarities. But in the flesh, it looks enough like an X-Wing that it can be made to look great even if all you do is slap a new coat of paint on it.

The proton torpedo ports are shallow because of how the mold was made and the draft angle of the parts, but that is a relatively easy fix. One cool thing on the kit though is you can dismount a portion of the belly tray, revealing a torpedo load. All you get inside are the torpedoes though and no other machinery, but a super detailer could go to town here. However, I suspect the REAL reason why Revell offered this feature though is you now have a ready made compartment to stick in a battery pack for a light circuit. This way, one doesn't have to carve in an access port.

All in all, I like what I see.
