Earlier thread was more of an inquiry, and has sort of derailed and run its course.
Started in on the built. Will be most OOTB but with a new paint job. I will however make effort to document elements of the physical model (opposed to the paint) that are lacking, inaccurate, or may be improved.
First, off the top of my head:
--The lower fuselage does not have the raised section that covered the ventral mounting point on the studio models
--The nose has an extra seam or two that should be filled
--The walls of the engine cans ("Turkey Feathers") are too thick
--The red markings on the wings, including Wing mark hash marks, are all delineated by recessed panel lines
--The trailing edge of the bottom half of the nose is vertical not angled back, and so is accurate only to the large-scale (1:12?) X-Wing, and Red 3
--The fuselage is not just top-and-bottom; it has additional snap-in parts that comprise the entire body, and these create more challenging seam lines
--The forward landing gear door has a "thumbnail depression" (so you can remove the door panel as you choose) that shouldn't be there
--There are two significant ejector-pin marks on each of the main engine intakes; they can be seen in the pics (barely) on the smooth surface of the intakes
