  • X-Wing Lightning System, when you open the wings it will switch from Cruise Modus Red Flicker to Attack Modus full brightness Magenta Flicker
  • New finish

Start to wire the Wings, i will use Neopixel WS2812 in 8mm for the Trusters. Drilled the holes 8,3mm. The wires are too short and changed to 300 mm with JST-PH connectors.

I have programmed a Microcontroller with all my Lightning for the X-Wing.
When the Wings are closed the Trusters will Flicker in Red with 60% of the Brightness. When the Wings
are Open the Color will switch to Magenta 100% Brightness with Flicker. The Controller has some more functions.
R2-D2 red/blue blink and one channel is programmed with a blink output and you can connect 3 more LED´s on the controller for
cockpit illumination. The dimensions will be 19mmx50mm.

Yesterday I tried to upload some small clips from the Lightning Controller, the format was .mov and it wasn't working ?
I will try again

You may have to upload to YouTube first and then post the link here to embed the video. I don't think the forum supports .mov files.

Most files, that are accepted here, have to be at least under 100mb. I found that out. I believe mov is one that is accepted. Check and see that filesize, and might need to compress it a little if its over.

Also, I always find it funny when a model comes prepainted, and a color, like the yellow is WAY over bright, vs the filming model.
Plus the lack of dirt and grime.
Not sure when this pic was taken, so might be faded a little vs when filming, but still, not as bright as the Revell model.

Wow, I really like it. I don't know why, but this makes me have an 80s vibe, the model looks very retro
You mean the Cockpit or the model? Yes the 80´s, a good time time I remember all the good Kenner stuff from Star Wars.

Modification on the Wing opening. The cables for Lightning going thru the Engines parts and back to the fuselage.
The angle for opening will be limited by the wires for the Lightning. I cut out some small stripes to increase the space for opening.

Awesome project! Taking mediocre kits and turning them into something special is great. The improvements that can be made are usually super fun. Great choice on the cockpit. That really elevates the entire model.
Keep going!

Thank you BoontaModelling, we will see how the final model looks like

I did some painting the last days, I bought some Red from MIG Ammo called pure red. The other colors I used some yellow from Tamiya and Light Gray. The washing will darken down the whole model. I used Mr. Masking Sol Neo for the color effects, it is easy to pull off with the fingers.
The colors are still too bright compared to the ILM Model. The ILM is for reference and at least I will not copy the ILM Model.

I was not really happy with my chipping on the parts and I found another source for color pattern. Some parts are repainted.
Drilled holes and channels for the wiring of the controller and the lights.
The cockpit was wired with fiber optics in 0.5/0.75/1,0mm.
