Red Hood, Take 2

I made a half-assed attempt at Red Hood for Halloween, but want to do it up right for C2E2. Some stuff gets reused, but mostly doing new.

Helmet!
Still being constructed. Used BlackKaos' pep file, but did it with 2mm foam. Lots of rondoing follows.

Armor!
Started with a doodle based on as many pics from the comics as I could bear to look at, then made a cardboard template, then transferred that to 5mm foam. That was coated in plastidip, then wrapped in carbon fiber-patterned vinyl wrap. Then the whole mess was assembled using a complicated system of levers and pulleys and velcro.

Jacket!
$5 leather jacket with a lot of doctoring. Took out the lining so I won't die while wearing it. The "zipper" bits are balsa wood with a liberal coating of silver spray paint. (Same for the "cartridges" on the holster straps.) Still trying to find the big silver buttons for the collar. Found a couple at Hobby Lobby, but they were too big. The hunt continues...

Guns!
2 $10 Colt 1911 airsoft guns courtesy of Walmart. Would not recommend them as airsoft guns. :D The holsters are also airsoft Walmart specials with plenty of doctoring up.

Updates!

Got the buttons for the jacket, so that's done now.

Helmet's done but for the lenses. Coming down to the wire on this one, since I'm flying to Chicago Tuesday morning. You can see how much better the 2nd helmet attempt went, compared to my Halloween build.

Foam surround for the lenses (3mm foam, did the ridges with a woodburner):

Yes, updates! Successfully completed the costume a mere 6 hours before boarding a flight to Chicago. I'm really pleased with how it came out, appearance-wise, at least.

Functionally, doing velcro to keep the chestpiece on was a mistake. The straps were constantly shifting and coming loose. The bigger mistake was making my own "combat holsters" instead of spending the $20 to get a pair off Amazon. I wound up removing them halfway through the day because they kept coming loose and shifting all over the place.

The original helmet next to the new one.

Very awesome build. Much better than the first one. The armor set up is just fantastic, I just might use yours as a template for my 2nd version. Great job non the less!
