Recasting a Sci-Fi Icon; The Classic Star Trek Communicator

Man you have to wonder how often the actors must have fooled with the knobs in those props to wear through the chrome plating on the hubs like that. just a thought, that could possibly be an interesting way to tell which Comm's were used the most often during filming.

I never thought about that. They were just vacuum-metalized though, so
it doesn't take too much effort to wear some off.

Hey John, this looks like a nice communicator kit.

Trying to keep the excitement a little understated. I would certainly buy one. Or two.

Hi guys-here's the kit!

You will be able to order your kits within the next day or so, and they will begin shipping within about week after that.
I've got to tell ya, these turned out even better than I had hoped:) I can't wait to see all the build-ups!

Thanks,
John Long

Hi guys! Those of you who signed-up for the "Reserve My Comm" list have been sent a link to place your orders. For anyone who didn't get signed-up,
I'll be posting the order info over the weekend.

thanks for the great response to this kit!

I did not think I was going to order one of these, but they just turned out too nice not to get one. Order placed! And nice work!

Thanks guys-and thanks for the terrific response to this kit.

For the couple of people who were asking me about soldering the
antenna, I just wanted to tell you that it's the simplest thing in the world.
I figured-out a trick several years ago that makes it a breeze. In fact,
once you've read the instructions, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to hear
of some people actually re-soldering some of their old replicas, to replace
the electrical solder some have used, with the proper silver solder joints.

Also, I wanted to mention how well the little interior details were
preserved in the process I used. I mean looking at the inside of these shells
is like a forensic study of the original Wah Chang vacuumform bucks.
I was thrilled with this. You can literally see every little mark, and divot
that are present in the original shells. This is just the coolest thing:)
I feel so privileged to be the person who was able to create this kit for my
fellow Communicator fanatics. Quite literally a dream come true.

Thanks again.

John Long
