Recasting a Sci-Fi Icon; The Classic Star Trek Communicator

Thanks guys. I'm very pleased with the way these turned out. For those
who are able to get this kit, it's absolutely the next best thing to owning
an original. Super realistic-and I don't say that as the guy who created
the kit, but as a fan. I'm thrilled:)

Thanks again.

Thought I'd share one of the cool little features that I've engineered into our kit. In order to enable the builder to customize their Communicator to look like the on-screen counterpart of their choosing, I did the antenna in such a way as to provide you with a couple of possible variations. On the show, we actually see about three variations in the shape of the brass antenna. The basic shape was the same, but the little angled area on the back edge was slightly different one from another. We see it as a long, somewhat flat area, it's a gentle curve on others, and they're trimmed very short on still a few more. Below are some pictures of how you can make your antenna look.

*If I'm not mistaken, I believe we see a good shot of the "Right out of the box" look in the episode "Tomorrow is Yesterday."

Great way to provide options. Maybe some folks will understand now.

Thanks again for producing these.

Can't wait to get one or two or six.

I almost killed my laptop drooling on it. I can't wait for this kit.

Thanks guys-we're almost there. I'm so happy with how this has
turned-out. I know you're going to love this kit!

Hi guys. I've had a couple of people ask me if I could take some pictures of my last build-the one made from the actual kit parts-with the original prop used to create the kit. So, I took a few for you today. Please note that on my build, I trimmed the shells a little thinner than the original (I like that look,) and I went with the "curved" back on the antenna. Also, the original prop is not glued together, so I wasn't trying to match the placement of the individual elements. Enjoy!

No problem buddy.....you deserve it:D

Finally a comm worthy of replacing my Wegman/Heilman comm.

Let me know if you need someplace to replace that Wegman/Heilman to :rolleyes.

This kit is Amazing :love

You got to be an old guy :lol

Short story: com from the early 80's with gold plated lid. Or was it the late 70's. (See I'm an old guy)

I'll see if I can shoot some pics and start a new thread.

I've never heard of that Comm. What is so special about it?

It looks like the knobs are yellow plastic underneath the chrome like the origanals. Not like the current reissues with the black plastic under the chrome. Sweet.

Good eye! Yes, these were made to match the vintage hubs
inside and out. I know most would think it over kill to worry
about the color of the plastic underneath the chrome, but I
wanted to enable you to wear-off some of the chrome, and
reveal the yellow plastic-just like on the originals. Am I crazy?
Yep :)
