Just curious Lee: are you re-making the upper cowls or are they part of the original package you received? How are you making the ribbing on them? It seems you would need half-round styrene rod.

Man...I wish I had one of these!

Part of the package Scott, they are cut fom the tail pulls, with a lot of manipulation and cutting.
The ribbing is indeed Plastruct half round, drove me nuts getting it bent round, and keep it all free of glue marks, used a slightly fatter tube as going thinner, was looking scruffy lol.
Still need to add various plates and styrene chips and, that ribbed trail section, im pretty sure this is a kit part, cut from a Leo maybe, there are two ribbed strips, on on the outer trailing exhaust, and one inside the exhaust itself.

Dayum, that's looking so nice Lee. Glad you've got some mojo back. Can I have some please? :) It's stormy winter weather here for the last month and my shed has been a no-go area. :(

Made a start on the rear hull panels, need to tie this area all in together really, as this is the trickiest as its so hard to follow the lateral line, im still a bit off lol, but i think my process is working.
Cant say ive done work like this before, so i really take my hat off to you guys that have built Falcons etc etc using this tech, its bloody hard and tedious lol.
There not spot on (lifes too short), but, opinions?

Dude!, what are you worried about, that plating work is just the ticket, just keep going for another 12 months and it should be plated lol!. Great to see her with some skin.

Lee the plating looks great, it looks like it was ever so gently rolled on the edges with a sanding stick?:thumbsup It looks sharp with a miniscule
amount of heavy softness to it......if that makes any sense?:lol:thumbsup

Lee this thing is huge, and the plating you just have to have faith in
what you are doing!! You won't see or understand the how nice the plating is until you have half the ship covered, so give it time!:lol

Really the plating is where this thing will totally come alive. I can't wait to see this stage progress. Loving it!

Guys, thanks man, glad you all reckon its going ok. The plating is i feel, what will make or break her.
Ive embelished a little here and there on it, studying the notches gets a bit of a blinder if i was honest lol.
Tried ILM's tech of using the nibbler on them, no dice, too scruffy for a display piece, by the time id filed the notches neat, i came to the conclusion, " hey i may as well file them in anyway " lol, should pop nicely with primer!

Micheal that one rolled panel you see, was the VERY slight roll on the tail pull, i measured it, had the gap right, but had to leave a TINY bit of roll in there to make the width, not a big deal, but boy you got a sharp eye, you should try part IDing :lol
Planning on getting the entire engine area plated by the time i return to work, home duties permitting lol.

Marytn, get to it lol, cant wait to see what you do with this one, just looking at mine now, although not accurate, you just know this is going to be one hell of a display piece!

Most of the hull tail is now in its basic plating form, not a major update, but i started tacking plates to the nose, this main plating, is very tricky, just getting a uniform gap where all curvatures are apparent is a mind bender lol.

It seems to be working, from here, i need to set the nose "droop" with the plates, there is a significant curve in the notch pattern, making the nose appear very "hawk" like.

Reckon i can get the main hull in its full "basic plated" form next week, from there, its the really fine stuff and styrene chips.
