Re: A storm is coming!

Mighty fine work Lee, me thinks you're in yer element scratching this baby!. She's looking fantastic, we all know this is gonna be a winner!.
BTW, how thick are your styrene body panels, they look pretty hefty, which just adds to the overall strength I guess, were they hard to form?.
Stunning dude, keep it coming!.

Hull is .90, so its plenty sturdy, cheers bud. Made a super find on her this evening, nice main part in the upper hull, and its one i wanted to bag as i didnt want to scratch it lol.

Re: A storm is coming!

Lee,

I'm rusty on Imperial, what's .90 in metric, any idea? Congrats on the part find, was it that block with the vertical line and the circles under it? That one just springs to mind for some reason.

Also, where you've opened up the faces of the Tyrell part for the engines, did you back that with anything? I'm pretty sure there's a piece in there, I was wondering if it might even be the joining faces of the Tyrell parts, cut out and trimmed down to fit - what do you think?

I like the F4 part. Nice touch.

Cheers,
Martyn

Re: A storm is coming!

I think, without breaking out the measures its just a tad over 2mm?

Yes, that is the part ive found Martyn, looked a horrible one to scratch, so glad its found now.

Tyrrell chassis, not really sure what you mean, there cut out, to allow the engine mountings to fit inside is all.

The F4 part, a right pain to cut to fit nice, but once done it kind blends in well, not sure if it is really there on the prop, the ref seems to show some kind of cylinder under all the rods and suspension parts, so i just had a little fun!

Re: A storm is coming!

Ta for all that, Lee. I have a ton of 2mm...handy! :) Well found on that circles part. It catches my eye every time I check the refs.

The engine mountings don't fill that area on the Tyrell completely. Reckon there's still a wall or baffle inside, judging by this pic.

BTW speaking of rod and suspension parts, I've been wondering if the long, thin, Y-shaped piece from the Leo is part of the engine detail too. Looks like it in the Chron side view but bloody hard to tell for sure from that angle. Just throwing the idea up for you!

Re: A storm is coming!

Guy's I had the absolute pleasure of seeing this beauty in the flesh yesterday & I cant describe how amazing it looks & will be when its done. Lee your a star mate & thanks for all the help & info bud. Its really geared me up to start the paint work mate.

Re: A storm is coming!

Martyn, now i see lol, looks like i may have cut mine wrong, i have kinda been working from the Chron construction pics here, where it looks as though the Tyrrell is cut.
No biggie as i can blank a wall off once i get the Leo barrel mounts fitted and add the greeblie goodness lol.

Its not the three rounded piece found Martyn, that was already bagged by Allan from the 88mm, its the main large part ive nailed buddy, ill PM you!

Found some time today to get some kind of chi back on the primary brim trench, again, didnt go too anal on pic browsing, just had a little fun, theres still some tweaking to do, but, i think im getting a fairly insane and undercut pattern going?

Behind this trench, larger patterns will be added, stepped back almost following the contour of the belly plates and adding a very deep intense effect.....i hope LOL.

Guy, cheers bud, and always a pleasure to have you over!

Re: A storm is coming!

Clay hah, man ill need rehab or some form of clinical care when im done with mine alone lol.
There is no way i could pull it off, and to build two, thats a massive hole in my own build time, something i really cherish working full time, and having three young whippersnappers that battle for my attention every day lol.
Besides that, im pretty sure the bucks are now pretty shot as many pulls were....pulled....just so spare parts were at hand in case of foul up's, and extras for plating!

Re: A storm is coming!

Re: A storm is coming!

Lee,that's looking fantastic mate.
This is gonna pop with some primer splashed on!:love

Re: A storm is coming!

Lee, this just gets better at every stage dude, I,m droolin all over my keyboard!.
I bet you're really lookin forward to plating her lol!, now THAT will take some time!.
I was wondering with the screws holding the plates, are they temporary or are they majorly holding the body panels in place and how are you going to cover them if fixed?.
I think this is going to be even better than ILMs version, the care in detailing her is just stunning my friend!.
Stu:love
