Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! ::pUNZ IS DONE! ( minus detailing ) PG 6 photo!

Thanks everyone! *_*

I'm currently embroidering at a rate of 6 inches/hour... come to the sad realization that I procrastinated too hard and won't have it done for Halloween. :\ So I'll have to sew some grosgrain ribbon over top and make do with that, then tear it off and finish up the embroidery later on. BOOOOOO.

Oh well. Lesson learned!

Sluis, THE MOVIE IS SO GOOD. She is right! You do need to see it! :D

Are you hand embroidering? I did that in high school... TOOK FOREVER!! With all the costuming you do you should think about investing in an embroider machine. I have a brother invois 2500 and a Huskavarna Viking SE. Both are sewing machines and embroidery machines. I LOVE my viking I can sew the leather on the sucker. I do the embroidery designs on my laptop and send the designs to the machine. If you invest in one you will find all kinds of reasons to use it. The hook costume I did, I used it for the baldric. With your natural talents you need some good equipment to help you go even farther with it. Just some food for thought.. It would cut down your time by ALOT!

Great costume. Figuring out the hair was awesome so you don't have to lug all that weight around and the dress is perfect.

Oh my goodness. Thank you everyone!! I feel like bursting into a Disney princess song surrounded by bluebirds of happiness from all of your wonderful comments. *_*

Jedi- oh my gosh. Those are hilarious and awesome!!! I WISH I had enough time to get those!!! But alas, being up here in Canada makes shipping anything take a million years ( usually ) and I won't be able to make it to my brothers in the states to pick them up before then either. =\ Though...it's supposed to only be about 8 degrees C on halloween so closed toe flats will prevent my feet from freezing as bad. But those are perfect for a convention so thanks! Bookmarked!!

Teresa- Yes, I'm hand embroidering! I've seen some girls do it by machine but Rapunzel's is pretty clearly ( imo ) hand embroidered. It's so sketchy, it looks like she did it out of boredom while locked in her tower. And though it'll be a bit of a contrast with how clean my work is on this one, I think it definitely gives it a homely, unique feel! I also just really enjoy it. It's time consuming and tedious but it's something to be so proud of after!

My new goal is to get the center panel sides and bottom skirt hem embroidered which I'm off to work on now. I'm halfway done ... one side... >_> we'll see how much I actually accomplish. Then I can just paint the designs with a washable paint...embroider over them later ( since I need a guide anyways ) and then wash it off when it's done!

Here's a little snippet of mine so far plus a closer up look at the center panel print. :)

Looks great!! Does the wig have a snippet of cut, brown hair?

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! ::pUNZ IS DONE! ( minus detailing ) PG 6 photo!

Haha! No...but right now the back gapes from what little weight it has so my own brown hair does show through... >_> Have to fix that before the weekend. guh.

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! ::pUNZ IS DONE! ( minus detailing ) PG 6 photo!

Two thumbs up! It's looking awsome! And your very right, when your done you will have a TON to be proud of! Keep us all posted with as many pics as possible!

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! ::pUNZ IS DONE! ( minus detailing ) PG 6 photo!

Sooo today was interesting.

Planned on getting TONS done. Wokr up at 1:30... felt like I had bronchitis ( RIGHT BEFORE HALLOWEEN!?!?!? ) could barely breathe, went through a whole kleenex box, was downright miserable. Had to go sign a quadrillion papers for my new car that I get on Halloween and that took about an hour... had to go buy more crazy glue for Flynn's vest detailing... by the time I actually GOT to working it was 4:30. -_-

I finished Flynn's vest though. THUMBS UP. It looks great and I'm really proud of it!

Fixed up the satchel... added the patch, button, toggle...it looks a LOT better now. Much more like a satchel and much less like a murse.

Probably won't get both of the belts done for Flynn or get around to distressing the boots. -_- I do this every year. SO much procrastinating then I'm miserable I didn't get it done. UGH.

Anyways, went to work on my Punz skirt... the paint SUCKED. It just absorbed into the fabric and looked absolutely horrible. So I rinsed it off and started embroidering. @_@ The shapes are SO sketchy... they look like they're done by a 4 year old... but up close, that's how hers are, and full view, it actually looks insanely cute.

I know I won't get it ALL done. Or even close to it. So I'm just doing every other design up the front on both sides to add a bit of even detail. :)

My designs are smaller than most... I wanted to fit the pattern as accurately as possible and since I'm pretty short I didn't have a lot of skirt to work with. But I painted them larger at first and just didn't like how it looked either. It felt like they stood out TOO much. Rapunzel's are a fair size but they're very soft against the background. Using embroidery floss, the designs stand out. So the smaller size worked in my favor again, giving the whole designs some flow as opposed to being distracting. Just how I like it to look, though I think others with bigger patterns look beautiful too. :)

I KNOW I won't get around to painting the sleeves... but I want to remake them in a fabric I can embroider ( and just the whole things overall ) so that's no biggie.

I do wish I got the whole thing done but...serves me right.

Then I find out Travis is working 'til 9 tomorrow when we were supposed to be going to a party at 8... so those plans are kiboshed. On one hand, I'm done work at 4 so I can come home and continue working on things I didn't get to tonight ( mainly the rest of the flowers on my wig and restyling his wig ) and then we'll figure out something else to do. On the other hand, it kind of sucks 'cause the winery we were going to go to kind of looks like the snuggly duckling with all the wood inside. XD Oh well...

Thank you everyone for your continued support on this project! Sometimes I curse these boards for making me OCD over details and perfection... I had to make SOME compromises with them, but overall, I feel like the intimidation I get from here is put to good use and will continue to be as I complete them! Picspam for the weekend begins now! :D

That costume looks awesome, great attention to details used there. Looks like something you would find wondering around in disneyland.

Great work, I showed my daughter and she hasn't stopped bugging me to look at it over and over again.

Is that wig not heavy though?

Thank you everyone!

It'll be busting at the seams with detail once I'm done with the embroidery! And I'm so excited to wear it a bit earlier and show it off to some little ones! They're the real critics for this one! So I'm glad she likes it!

The wig only weighs about 2.5 lbs. :D It's VERY comfortable!

No new project until these are 110% done! Then I think I might go back to Hook and try to finish that 100% since it's still floating somewhere around 80...blegh.

With those you could probably get hired to do some birthday party and kids things. Especailly while that movie is so hot! I took the kids to a dance last night and they both won the costume contest in their age groups! They were so happy!
