Randy Cooper 38" Star Destroyer Kit

I actually inquired about the size of the hull and rotocast. I was assured that the machinery exists to do this properly... but yes its still a valid concern. Properly done rotocasting does not have the truly thin spots you mentioned - that is what happens whne somebody that is inexperienced with rotocasting does it the first few times. There is a technique invovled (so I'm told) that yeilds very uniform thicknesses. Since Randy spent the time to find someone to do it professionally I'm hoping the person knows what they are doing :cool

I have faith in Randy's ability to know what would work for these kits.

We all know they won't be detail accurate.

As for possible sag? There are all kinds of options to keep that from happening. The builder would just need to get creative IF that were to be possible. ;) I don't believe Randy will let it get that far, however. ;)

I am just glad that someone is FINALLY offering kits of them in large scale. Of course, that will never stop the more accurate "one offs" from being done. I have one planned for '08 as well. ;) But at least these are options that never existed for us all before Randy's endeavor! :)

So I say... Thank You Mr Cooper! :D

So you all know,
Randy is concerned with the issues listed.
He will be using the best methods he can to achieve the desired results.
Remember, he wants a big SD too, and would not be happy with warped or sagging parts.

Jedi Dade,
Just to be clear this will be an 8 foot long kit based on the 36" ESB? An 8 footer would look awesome next to my 9 foot Concorde.

Note the topic:
"Randy Cooper 38" Star Destroyer Kit"

NOT 8'

"Not THIS ship sister" :lol

Did I accidentally imply that it wold be an 8 foot version of the 3 foot SD? If I did I apologize its a just over 3 foot version of the 8 foot SD model.

I don't even wht to contemplate the shipping charges for an 8 foot SD...Oh My...

But I am certain once an 8 footer was in front of each of us... we would consider it sooooooooo worth it! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

It's impossible to work out yet as the kit hasn't been produced. I'm hedging my bets on $150+.
