Hello all! I'm looking to make a Raiders of the Lost Ark sandbag like the one Indy uses at the beginning of the film. I have all the materials but I'm having trouble deciding on the size. Anyone have any ideas? I'll definitely post some pictures once I have one made... Thanks in advance.

I did mine with aprox 20/25cm high

Pretty sure my plans are what most of the overpriced sellers use.:unsure
For what they charge you can make a dozen or more.

For making the holes for the grommets get a cheap soldering iron from the dollar store and burn the holes through.

Great idea with the soldering iron. I have just gotten into making things myself (we just bought our first sewing machine). Would you recommend sewing the sides and then folding over and sewing the top or folding and sewing the top on both sides then folding it in half and sewing it together?

Great plans d6! I took my Magnoli sand bag with me to Kauai and filled it will screen accurate sand. :lol

Here is the first effort. Thank you to division 6 for the pattern! My finished product isn't perfect but I learned a lot. As John Hammond said, "Creation is an act of sheer will. Next time it will be flawless."

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier.
I usually do up the sides then fold the top and sew that.

I did the pattern for everyone over on COW back in 2002 since at the time only a couple people had them.

When I have scrap material around I make up a batch.
A few years ago I gave them to friends as party favors along with small note books and stuff wrapped in a Grail Diary type packaging.
