All neatly laid out for Wednesday with my christmas motors in the background. The controller board is sitting on my desk. All he needs are ANKLES! :)

late at the office..no point going home...do the same stuff there as here..
all the holes are drilled... Everything CAN go together, it's just a matter of it going together right.

I've got to saw off the outer rungs on the motor, I've got to attach the belt on the right to the other side of the motor. and i've got to attach the motors themselves. Guess I can't make these things go off on their own for a motor controller test drive..didn't think they'd have trouble balancing on their own. oh well...
would have made for a funny video.

nearly all aluminum. Only shoulder buttons, under shoulder details and possibly booster cover will remain resin. The Horse Shoe and battery box will be upgraded to metal over time. I hope to finish the feet, minus battery box modification for motors, on monday.

Maybe work on fastening all the electronics together somehow on the inside. still not sure how i'm going to do that yet. The last major component needed is ankles. Then he'll be ready for a final assemble/first test drive.

Also coming soon is Video/Episode 3 :Leg Assembly and episode 4/Electronics. episode 5 will be his first test drive. And Episode 6 will be a retrospective of the entire build over the course of the year starting in January.

I love having something to work on. it's a nice distraction from the annoyances of life. just not sure what i want to start doing next..

ordered some metal knurled fittings... hopefully those will ship soon if there are any left. it has to be checked :).

tomorrow, plan to finish up the feet. Sometime soon, hope to get all the electronics organized and stable. Then i need to start thinking about sound.

all that is left is ankles. then he'll be ready for final assembly and first test drive!

this works even less well with a 9v. forgot the main battery at home. doh!
guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow to see if it works right. don't worry, the motor isn't hooked up via belt :)

again, less far than i would have liked. Second motor 'rung' cut off with power saw by expert. nice and smooth now. was in such a rush, started to hook it up to the housing before putting it through the foot first. doh...then time ran out on me. Oh well, both feet will be done tomorrow and hopefully binded to the RC properly. and i still have to saw off that edge on the first one to flatten it

Then it's just a matter of sound and ankles :)

for all intents and purposes, feet are done. i'll leave off the battery boxes for now. i do ubt anyone would want them...but just in case i won't practice cut away to see just on the off chance they might fit. lining them up looks kind of close...

my metal battery harness have shipped. i'll be able to paint it right this time. my metal under shoulder parts will ship soon..and still waiting on word for the knurled fittings. sometime bonuses come in handy and i still have money left over enough for ankles..

that's the last major part needed. I also scored a set of leg to body hubs for the next month when they become available again.

the only problem i'm having now is binding the npc's to the remote control. i've done everything exactly the same as the pitman, but it doesn't seem to want to catch..

new foot strips..finally went out and got the right width and length of metal. i avoided it around the holidays.

always nice to know what you're getting..

just for ha ha's i tried to see if they'd fit on my pvc battery box. nope. another reason to wait for a BC compliant metal one :).

So, here's where R2-CE stands. His new designation based on the initials of the place where I built him.

Dome: Finished. All electronics and parts and paint are final.
Body: Finished. Skins will eventually be taken apart and re-painted/sanded for a smoother finish. Possibly power coated if I can find someone to do it and i can strip off some of the old paint. If I can't make these look good, I'll just bite the bullet and order a new set. I know what I'm doing now.

Legs: Upper Leg completed. Metal UnderShoulder details still to be shipped. New metal leg hydraulics installed. Horse Shoe will be replaced with BC Compliant Alum.

Feet: Basically all done. Motors are installed. new Metal Knurlled fittings will arrive this week. Metal Battery Harness are here. Battery Boxes to be replaced in aluminum.

Ankles: Ankle Details awaiting to be attached. metal Cylinder and wedges will arrive soon. Ankles are last part needing to be bought.

Electronics: Dome lights are done. Dome is set to spin perfectly. The 2X25 is all ready to be wired. Having some trouble getting motor one synched to the remote. Not sure if both motors need to be connected to get it working right.

Still need to work out what i'm going to do with sound.

But other than that, he's almost all done. About 90% done. This time last year, all I had in my possession was the dome :).

removing paint... want to get the frames to look nice and shiny. this was the test piece. Will try it on the main frames tommorow. I also had a call put in to our offices powder coat guy.. see if we can't get a cheap offer and get it to look real nice the second time around.

problem now will be cleaning up the extra JB weld off the frame for re-gluing.

59930_10151381018410211_550582276_n.jpg

The last remaining part..ankle cylinders. Now I just need the ankles to put them on. Those look like March at this point in time.

All completed parts awaiting assembly. Waiting for metal battery boxes..will upgrade to metal horse shoes. And of course metal ankles. Hoepfully in march he will be ready for the first test drive.

I hope to have the frames de-painted and cleaned up/re-glued by friday. if the poweder thing doesn't work out, painted nex week.

all parts are done, or nearly done. these just need one more cut to be completed. Now it's just a matter of ankles.

I'm taking the front skins to a powder coating company. I think the back look godo enough, but the front need major work. hopefullly we can get these there tommorow and they'll be back by friday.
Then I need to find a way to organize the electronics inside, and think about sound.
