Got mine the other day too... and I agree with both sides of what you guys have been saying. Is it screen-accurate (even shiny plating not withstanding)? No way. Is it kinda cool as an idealized version? I think so! :thumbsup
It's funny-- seeing the
TNG badge, which I think is significantly more dimensional than the flatter
Generations/DS9/Voyager badge, in a super-shiny plated version like this, reminds me of the (again nowhere near screen-accurate) version of the
G/DS9/V badge that was out a couple of years ago. (I think I got mine form the Star Trek Experience store, but I can't remember exactly.)
This is what I mean, tho-- they kind of work together with their shiny, more dimensional feel:
In any case, I popped mine into my comm badge display (replacing the painted one I have, similar to the first in Quinn's pic above), and it looks more in step with the rest of the pins, which are all shiny, plated versions:
I don't want to completely derail this thread (and please forgive me if I do), but my "All Good Things" and
G/DS9/V badges that you can see in the display above have really deteriorated over time in terms of their finishes. The gold has faded significantly. It almost looks like the silver, which has kind yellowed slightly too. There's very little contrast between the two colors. You can really see it in the
G/DS9/V badge on the bottom (which, incidentally, is a magnetic one with a soundboard from QVC). My "Future Imperfect" has held up better, but the others just look terrible. Is there any way to restore these? (And again, I apologize for the derail-- I'll post this somewhere else if it's more appropriate.) Thanks, guys!
