@Asp9mm..... It's like this.... I told you all I was going to keep it real with no BS. And I have done that. I know some of you have some nice high res pics of the 10th and I don't need to ask you or anyone else to prove that you do. Personal... I don't care. I'm not one of the norm that has done work or does work for various replica companies out there..... I'm actually one of the industry professional that make the ****. QMx has gone above and beyond here to try and deliver something truly nice for you guys. Listen.... you have two industry professionals that have contributed to this project. First you have Nick. I mean... come one guys..... the guy worked on the show for 6 years I believe. He made the **** and maintained/modified them. Then you have a mainline prop maker (who has designed and built for the movies a lot of the props you guys have come to love) going to make the sonics for you. How more accurate do you require? Why do some of you insist on giving this CT as much attention and credit as you do? I have seen his work and have examined it closely to come to the fact that his replica is in no way accurate. That's a fact! Has anyone ever asked this guy why he never got a license for the sonics? Do you honestly know? Well, fortunately... I do.
So, getting back the the tens. Asp9mm... you state:
"Can I just point out that a few members on here have seen the prop and have very detailed HD reference. I don't have sides but support facts as they appear. To support my claim (as people will press for), I'm sure you'll agree that Tens sonic you had access to had a huge amount of paint missing on one side and the brass slider plate was 3/4 exposed. This is assuming that it is the sonic with two Phillips head screws and a flathead below the slider, which from your posts suggests so.
If you open a thread solely on the QMx sonic then I'm sure we can all chat without discussing third parties and purely on your sonic and accuracy to the original prop. Facts are all I'm interested in, full on accurate facts. In the past licensees have not given altogether truthful ones (colony cream and WOWs screen accurate claims for two). If we are given truthful facts then respect will obviously be earned. That is all we have ever asked for."
What was you point? or were you just making a statement already made several times before? What do you mean by: "the facts as they appear"? Are you saying to me that the sonics I had access to was not accurate? Are you saing the one that I have an exact laser scan of every part inside and out is not accurate? Do you have detailed pics of the inside? or pics of its manufacture? Do you have detailed drawings or spec outlines or dimensions? We can all agree that the 10th that the studio has in it's lock up has been through the war. Right? You mention about the paint being wore off. And your point being? I have the guy who maintained it and has refinished it numerous times. Are you saying that when he refinished it or made upgrades that his work is not accurate? This... the guy who worked on the show directly with these sonics... not to mention made them and or maintained them. Seriously Asp9mm.... I think QMx has gone above and beyond "FACTS" that you expect. The facts we have from meetings with the studio prop guys to some of the heads at the studio to the information and materials/supplies they gave us exceeds the facts you're seeking. There are fcats that you and many others won't even or ever know about some these props. I'm not trying to be rude to you or insult you in anyway so please don't take my post as anything more then frustration. I'm frustrated that I have been placed in a category of others who you feel have failed you in some way when it comes to accuracy. I'm frustrated in the fact that we have to hear the same bickering over and over. Then when we finally move forward, you or someone else has reiterate what you have already stated. I and QMx have gone above and beyond on this project for you guys. I have tons of data to pick from to give you accuracy. I can make the 10th as it was first made or as it exists today. I can recreate the paint as it was intended or how it ended up. I don't need to prove to you or anyone else my abilities to give you nothing but FACTS. I chose to stay out of the bickering between members over accuracy... until I was brought into it. I find it sad how some can not be pleased even when you present original artists or professional from the shows. I know you guys expect high standards.... I can tell from the passion some of you voice when you bicker. I can tell you another FACT. A lot of the replica prop comapnies out there care more about money than accuracy. They cut corners to make it easier to produce the prop than to do it RIGHT. They don't care. If they can sell it attached to a license and make money.... why would they care. And this can open a whole other can of worms.... but considering you and some others want facts..... well... there's the plain truth of it all. The first conversation.... actually the first of many... between QMx and I was how to produce the most accurate props for the fans. That's what a great deal of our conversations are about. Just like when I went to the UK..... I told them I needed to come along to be able to get everything I needed. Pictures were not good enough. I can tell you of some replica builders I know that claim accuracy but yet I watched them take superficial photos of a hero prop to replicate without one dimension. Then pass it off as 100 percent accurate. LMAO! I don't use photos like that. I use laser scanners.... one of which is around $80,000. Then I don't just scan the entire thing...... I pull it apart down to nuts and bolts. I make sure I know what the screws were and even if they were cut down screws. If they were cut down.... I recreate that as well. That's the level of accuracy I do.
So, in the end I will give you a sonic. I will give you a sonic that will be 100 percent dead balls accurate. I will give that statement without one shred of hesitation. If you feel to continue to question its accuracy... without ever even having the ability to take apart and examine how it was built.... then just don't buy it.
Asp9mm.... listen... I know what you want. I wouldn't expect anything less if I was you. BUT, remember one thing brother.... you got Nick and I working for you. I hope you can look past any past replica companies that failed you and anyone else by stating accuracy and taking your money. I hope you can not hold what someone else has done against me. You have made your views very clear to me and everyone else and I have heard you my friend. I have heard you!
So, with all that venting.... (and you have to allow me to do that because after the current events.... I think I earned that vent)... how do we move forward? It's obvious many of you feel the same way I do and have shown your support. And for that... I give you my sincere thank you. For Asp9mm or anyone else who has voiced your opinions and demands for FACTS..... I have listened, I hear you, and I agree with you.
Again... how do we move forward? Well, what if I asked you what are you looking for? What is it about the prop that you need answered that you feel may be not accurate? Keep in mind that screen grabs form the show are not accurate to the true dimensions of the actual prop. What can I do for you? Whay do you want to see in the 10th? To be perfectly honest, I spoke to Andy today and he asked me what I was going to do about the manufacture of the sonics. There is a battery connection issue that I need to address. It's a design issue. Keep in mind that when Nick built a prop, he was under fire to get it done ASAP for a shoot. Therefore, it got made quickly with not as much thought as there should have been. But why would there be? The prop is made to "get the shot". It's not made to be a replica with many years of use. So, what did I tell Andy? I told him that making it exactly like the original is the way to go. It's what the majority wants. Do I leave the same exact way the batteries get connected or do I make it better? I personally would want it dead on because it would sit in my collectors case most of the time. I would want to claim its dead on when someone asks to see it. If your reason is for cosplay... then I say buy the toy. What about the paint? Do you know what it is? I do. I know exactly what it is that was used. Does CT? Does the paint have issues with wear if you drop it or don't care for it properly? Yes, it does have issues. Do I still want to use it? Yes. Why? Because the stuff is no longer made and is extremely hard to get. Would you like to have something made with the same materials? the same flaws as the originals? the same care needed as the originals? I know I would. Especially when those materials are no longer available down the road. Keep in mind this stuff does have a shelf life. You guys tell me. What do you want me to do... for you?
