Any chance that The Great Gonzo's 'rest of the crowd' (TM) will STFU now?

Nah....:lol

'You guys are crazy! Deluded! And now I've caught it too!' footsteps recede into the disatance, followed by loud shotgun blast....

Kenney...

Like to echo the thanks of people on this thread.

Biggest compliment I can give you is the following.

You sold one to me based on your comments and actions.

Nuff said.

Thanks.

Birdie - give CT some credit. He's gone out of his way to anger a lot more than just three people. LOL!

Truth to tell I don't actually care much about it one way or the other. I just find myself a little off put by the cultist behavoir you and some of the others display when there's a chance to bring him up. He makes a pretty good sonic but other than that, to me, it's a fairly sizeable pile of BFD.

Having read Kenney's write ups and getting a sense of his enthusiasm in his posts I'm going to really enjoy watching him bring the replicas (or unscreen used accurate props the way he's talking) to life. I'm still in this hobby for the enjoyable parts and what Kenney is doing (and especially how he's going about doing it) qualifies.

Kenney!!! My Hero!!! Hip shootin' square-jawed, plain-talkin' Kenny!! Thanks for getting us out of the dark!! You are restoring my faith - which, simply looking back on this thread, was well past the breaking point. Get it done, get it right, and get it out amigo.

Heres' one, but it's proof of CT having access, cropped from two of his reference piccies...

Phez asked. He delivered.

Good enough, he has posted some proof. Topic dropped. Was that hard? ;)
I am still not going to be wearing the brown lip stick anytime soon but at least he posted some teaser pic's to back up some of the claims same way they do in the Star Wars threads.

I might need something a little bigger than he's got to offer to smoke though (in true CT style) :lol

Greetings guys,
OK.... here's the scoop. I had a long talk with Andy to voice my strong oppinion that me posting is important in the eyes of the fans. I was prepared for the ass chewing for the information I provided.... but instead.... Andy told me to "shut up and listen". He said that he was following my postings and realized it was a good thing. He only gave me three rules that he would like me to respect and I agreed.

1. That I'm not basically putting my CAD on the RPF. I wouldn't do that anyway.... I'm pretty protective of my work.
2. That I don't talk bad upon the studios or actors. I would never do that....I'm more professioanl than that.... plus, they feed me. :)
3. I don't put pics up of my work without Andy screening. I think that is fair. Its better than no pics.... right?

All of the above is extremely understandable and you guys have to respect that.

Now, here's my request. As stated... I'm a professional in the industry and I have to respect a lot of my NDAs and contracts. I came on the site this weekend taking a chance and knowing that I would get reamed by Andy and I did it for you guys. I got his attention and he sees the importance of good communication and has given me his blessing. My time is extremely limited and valuable..... just as you guys value your time and work. I respect all of you..... so I ask the same. I have three major films I'm working on now and time is limited. I will make it a point to come on here and communicate as much as I can with the time I have. I ask that we (we all) try.... please try to remember that we're all brothers. I don't want to be a part of the war..... I already spent enough time in the sand box.... Afghanistan and Iraq.... 3 total years. I had enough. So, lets try to respect each other as much as possible and communicate with a little more tact. If it gets out of hand..... I won't participate and the communication goes back to the way it was. I don't think I'm asking too much. Now, I know this is the RPF and it wouldn't be the same if there wasn't "something" going on. LOL I just ask that we try and remember why we're all here. I will never take sides or bad mouth another. I will defend what I know to be fact by stating a correction once. I will not get into a pissing contest with anyone. I'm here for you guys and that is it.

OK, now that we're all on the same page.... would someone please kick this off with a valid concern or question. Again.... keep in mind..... I have 3 major films that come first. lol

I will add one concern of mine Nick and I talked about that Andy reminded me about today. That is the battery needs to be more secure in the 11th sonic and make access easier for you guys to change it out. Again... this comes down to my belief in keeping it true in every respect. I personally don't think you guys would mind breaking out a miniature screwdriver to take the rear end off etc. I think keeping the wires from breaking is probably the most important thing. That's just one of my items I need to address.

I would like all original inside and out but I may be in the minority. :lol
Studying how you guys make stuff is part of the fun.
Man it's an exciting time to be a prop collector!!!!!

Between EFX molding the origenal Star Wars Helmets and you guys doing the origenal WH13 an DrWho props I am going to have to have to get a second job :)

All of this talk of "official" and "licensed" Sonic Screwdrivers. Has anyone ever read the tiny writing on the bottom of the box when buying say a toy Sonic Screwdriver??? No? Well I have and it says on the bottom "BBC DOCTOR WHO (word marks, logos and devices) TARDIS,DALEKS, CYBERMEN and K-9 (word marks and devices are trade marks of the BBC and are used under licence. BBC logo (c) BBC 1996, Doctor Who logo (c) BBC 2009. TARDIS image (c) BBC 1963. Dalek image (c) BBC/Terry Nation 1963. Cyberman image (c) BBC/Kit Padler/Gerry Davis 1966. K-9 image (c) BBC/Bob Baker/Dave Martin 1977." Funny no mention of the Sonic Screwdriver being owned exclusively by BBC.
As most hardcore fans know almost identical devices have shown up in other shows like Tunderbirds the original with the puppets and the device had Sonic in its title plus looked bang on if not the same as the 5th Doctors classic Sonic Screwdriver. Quick sue the puppets I heard they have done really well for them selves and are living fat of the money the BBC.

I believe it to be necessary as people keep puffing out their chest and beating them as to say "I know more and right oh and by the way nah nah nah nah nah"

wow, really ? ok. so anyway, back to the sonics, I'm excited frankly, as complicated as they can be it's good to know the time and care has been taken on even the littlest detail

Now Thetasigma that was funny! :)

Poor Victor Pemberton, ripped off by puppets & ignored by copyright Dept at the Beeb!

Hey, KCPStudios, I would like to know if you are making this accurate, will it be as fragile as the real props are, or apparently are? Will these be durable enough for out of the case use?

Damn, just when the thread had gotten back on the rails too /facepalm.

I'm not a hardcore Sonic Screwdriver aficionado but wasn't the Thunderbirds prop repurposed to be the 3rd Doctor's Sonic?

I got to play with the 11th Sonic at SDCC and I'm eagerly awaiting the release of it. I was a little hesitant with flicking it open, but it didn't feel overly delicate to me as I juggled it between my hands Matt-style. I was rather surprised by some of the detailing that you just never pick up watching it on screen or even in every photo of the prop I've seen. I fell in love with the prop all over again.

I didn't get to handle any of the others, though I think Andy was offering to let me play with the laser screwdriver at one point. The 11th Sonic should be able to handle out of the case handling fine so long as you don't drop it or whack it on anything. Andy sure didn't seem concerned with me tossing it hand-to-hand and he was flicking it open more vigorously than I was. It takes a bit of oomph to get it fully open.

When i spoke to Nick about the fragility of the 11th Sonic, he did say that the first time around that he built these they broke a fair bit, but after a bit of working and tinkering he was able to rework the design to be more sturdy.

Maybe we could start a new thread

QMx & NO Other New Sonic Screwdrivers Thread :lol

and move the informational posts from kcpstudio over to that thread so the info is easy to find for those following the project? That way the tag team event could contiue in this thread and the QMX Who project followers could have less information :confused to sift through to get the details and updats.

Sifl
So Olly what do you think of today's match up?

Olly
It's bound to be a tag team event of the year!

Oh come on, the Thunderbirds stuff was quite lighthearted surely, & was a welcomed bit of relief from the intense posts of late. It made me laugh anyway :) & has not derailed the train or I would have thought indended for an in depth massdebate.

Kenney,

Thank you very much for all the data and I'm really glad you plan to continue sharing with us. We are mostly detail nuts here as you've already seen. I do have a few questions:

1) Modding the interior to allow for easier battery change. Will that still allow for the magnet connectors for the batteries? I think that bit of accuracy would please the hard core collectors and also make it easier for us to change the batteries.

2) Sound. It's a fence that people are going to fall on either side of or straddle but you haven't said if you intend to try and work it in as an option or not. (or you did and I missed it, sorry)

3) Please convey our thanks to Andy for realizing that a gag order would both cause problems with a subset of his core customers (RPF Members) but also with you. You seem to be the kind of person that loves what you do so much you want to talk about it and share. Your ability to talk progress and concept here as well as the enthusiasm that comes across in your posts is very refreshing. Thank you.

4) Best of luck with the process of bringing an army of these sonics to life. From having followed the efforts of several prop makers over the years I've seen how it is a road filled with pot holes leading to a field of land mines sometimes. Please keep us in the loop.
