I have my viper mark II starbuck edition coming in this Monday.


Strange thing is there was no email or anything to tell me my viper was coming , just a fedex tracking number sent via fedex to say i have a package coming from Qmx. :behave

To cut to the chase, the new canopy fits.

there was one minor breakage. But its an easy fix and its underneath the bird.

the canopy does not fit on both sides.

Just looked and realised there are gaps on one side.

And my hopes are dashed. Still looking fwd to mine arriving tho. I wonder if anyone does a pilot to sit in the cockpit. Looks a bit empty without anyone there.

Just a gut feeling on my part, but I don't think that's the revised canopy. It looks pretty much like the original, which is vacuformed plastic with a resin reinforcement at the back. It's just that yours fit somewhat better than most.

I contacted QMX at the end of October. I got are reply from a Joe Passmore. At that time they still didn't have a replacement/revised (as he put it) canopy finished but were working on it. He said he'd update me when he had more information about a time frame. I've not hear any more since.

I just fired off a reply e-mail asking if there was any update on the canopy. I'll report back what they have to say.

mine goes on for approx 1 min b4 it shuts down and I have to wait 2 mins b4 it'll turn on.


I think heat might be an issue. anyone else has this?

I left my DRADIS on for 10 mins and it was still running fine.

My Viper does not have an auto shut off. It seems to run until I shut it down.

Also, I never contacted QMx or theFXco about my canopy. I just assumed every one of them would be replaced. I'd better check into this.

Received a reply from Joe as well. Basically, the same story as other have received, stating they are close to a resolution and will let me know when the replacement is ready to ship.

My DRADIS display runs continuously when powered up too.

it's the guys replying to him that might slow down the process.


I've tested my viper several times now and it shuts down after some time. it varies so I don't know what the issue really is.

the model shop that works for Qmx are thinking the amperage may be insufficient and are sending me one with a higher wattage.


if that doesn't work I'll have to send the bird in which I would seriously like to avoid.


did you guys let it run continuously?

if anyone has > 10 mins with no shutdown?

When I got mine a few months ago (Starbuck #82), outside of the canopy fit y'all have been talking about, the only thing i had to repair was the clear red nav beacon on one wing had come off in shipping, but was still in the bag.

I've ordered enough from QMX that I know there's going to be something that needs looked after when you open the crate.

Do they also have the license for the original show? I would buy an original Viper and Raider if they ever make them available.

Don't think they do but they did have a version of the original Cylon Raider in the new show so it's a possibility the could do that. The fact that the limited edition Mk2 has been on sale for so long, though, makes me think there's been a slow uptake. So the chances on another raider (or a MkVII which is what I want) must be quite low.
