Gone but not forgotten.
O.K. so I am gathering parts to start a PR build. I use to have the G&P kit. I sold it to a guy that works for Paramount (I think, it was a movie studio at least) a while ago. I have started collecting parts from Matt. I have a set of his shrouds and a spas cage and grip on order. I will be buying the airsoft Thompson next week.
So, here are my first few questions-
1- I know that bess brown has been discontinued for some time. What is the current accepted color that is "close enough"? I'd rather not do just olive drab.
2- For counters, are there any that count down rather than just display a set number? I am aware of spats static display and the counting Hyperdyne unit. Any others out there?
3- Who does grenades with pushable plungers anymore? The ones lately on the 'Bay have all been solid. This will be just to display with the PR.

I think that's about it for know!

the componets for the counter are pretty cheap if you know how to, maybe try exoray to have one built up, I got a fullly built PR from matt who had a counter that counted down.

Try this.... http://www.replicantfx.com/ :thumbsup

I bought my counter from replicant and its great, already built, comes with sounds which you can edit. Has microswitches for trigger, cocking GL, GL firing, magazine, counts down and clicks when all have been fired.

Mine just needs to be put into a PR! which i'm working on at the moment.

Chap on aliens legacy forum is making plungable grenades at this very moment!

Thanks! That Replicant counter is awesome. So much for an inexpensive prop. :lol

For the color of the shrouds, I used a color made by Testors called "Brown Earth", (or is it Earth Brown?). It's a good match and I've used it on all my USCM gear.

There are numerous charts on the web for matching Humbrol paint numbers to the can numbers of other manufacturers. Just search on google for "Humbrol color chart" or similiar.

O.K. So I just got my SPAS cage from Matt. Holy crap is this thing awesome! I will get pics up soon as I now have all the major components and can start some assembly. The spas is done in his aluminum infused resin. When I unwrapped it I thought I was looking at a real steel part. I can't believe this thing is resin. It has a built in shotgun that is apart of the cage. When you "rack" the GL it opens the ejection port. Also on the bottom where "grenades" would be loaded is a ramp and tube to house the airsoft battery. This thing is too cool. Pics coming soon!

On another note, I just placed my order for the ReplicantFX PR sound system!

Is Brown bess rare? 'cause I have about six of the humbrol mini cans left and I'd love to help find an alternative.

Weve found what would be the closest to Brown Bess..its Aervoe 99 Earth Brown...

BB is nearly impossible to match...it has a greenish tint to it under certain lights...(look when Frost is getting the PRs ready)

and no one Ive ever seen (Home Depot, Lowes, Etc) can even come close...all they have to offer is plain brown:unsure

I've been collecting parts for this build for a couple of months now. Who would have thought that a little tin of paint would be the hardest thing to get?

Im new over there but haven't posted much. I need to. I sent a pm to Data about his grenades, which I still need as well!
