making a film set in the 1800s so made these for it. the one with revolving barrel is a plastic model kit I built. the other one is a complete scratch build from styrene pvc and a scrap piece of wood. painted with spray paints and weathered with oil paints and drybrushed.

I remember having the kit of the pepperbox years ago. the scratch built box lock is very nice.

for the painting I first primed them, then did a gunmetal coat. after that did a few different oil paint washes applying it into the cracks and grooves and then wiping it back out. I stipple it on after wiping it so that It doesn't leave fake looking brush strokes. after that dry brushed silver onto the exposed areas.
