Amongst all of our reference pics we did notice that on the exhibition photos people collected over the years some parts were damaged and broken off.
If you are wondering why there is extra detail on top of the skirt , that is what it looked like originally.
Strips broke off later over the years.
Guy provided me with ultra high detail pics he took which were amongst the best form of ref I had.
There were more but I am embarrassed to say I don't remember from who , but on some pics Guy had, it shows traces of glue of pre existing parts confirming this.

Rob and me have been working on the Taun armature.
As that is now In the very last stage and machining is due to start in the next week I have done a bit more work on the probe.
Only 2 eyes to go and I will be able to fire it up to see it fully working..
Oh yeah and the 300 dimples need to be done

Thanks lee for the kind words.
Guys and lees thread was very helpful and a must for this build!
Along with all the other great builds here of course.

It has been a while and I hope it encourages others
To build it.
This is top hat, I cut it out of acrylic, 3 times to get it right in fact.
The antennas work great , but with all the gizmos in the head I was beginning to run out of height and room.
Rob came up with the pipe (100mm )
Idea to make the hat remove able.
There is no need for this to be ever fixed.

Looks stunning Mars, you've both done an incredible job on this, what a work of engineering now get them legs nailed on.

It's alright looking I suppose:devil
I got a bit of catch-up in front of me, but Ive got a goooooood excuse :lol

Thank you all for those comments which continue to encourage me to finish this.
I am glad you like how it's turning out.
I do have Lees awesome legs here ready to go on !!!
but since we have come this far and I am enjoying this build along side Rob, i really wanted to build our own.
also you guys shared some new notes on donors with me for the legs so these new ones will include most of those mods.

Plus the more eyes on one build the more Acurate we all can get.
Poor Rob needs to catch up!!
(Insert whip noise)

Yeah there was a lot more me and Guy found, think we have the data somewhere, some parts are so nondescript, many dont even know they are fitted, ILM really went to town on some tiny, silly parts lol.

This is awesome Mars. That is some clean work . I'll be building mine this winter and can only hope to get it to look half this nice. WOW!!!

Thanks mr zombie!

Here it is fired up,
Using the Hyperdyne electronics as a brain and servos for antennas but have altered this with a different drive system.
Hypers probe kit uses random movements every time the sensor is triggered so repetition of movement is not really seen.
I was able to capture some movements although the gun can barely be seen firing.
It's actually glowing through the undercoat which is also very cool.
That LED has also been changed from the kit.
It's a flashing red /white square that fits in Robs gun.
The kit is really nice , bloody loud!
I set everything in the head and just ran down the power leads and sensor at base therefore wherever it stops , it will still be able to set off a sensor, and also doesn't alter the studio scale look.
I did sacrifice the wheat bulb for the LED, but got someone looking into that to see how we make it compatible with the hyper kit.
If not the LED is also nice .

Antennas need to be cut.
Enjoy

Thank you so
Much for all these comments , and Don I don't know about the "finest ever"
But I will take the title , thank you heaps!!!
Lol

On another note , I have had a few people inquire about the vacs.
I can do a couple but my guy is sort of busy and doesn't really like the one of run.
However I will put a sale thread for these necks I have used on mine and Robs.
These are made from high density plastic then machined.
The two part neck slots in itself and allows for the head to rotate freely and all you need to do is affix these to the bottom head and upper skirt centred.
These will serve for both uses, electronic and static studio scale.
Unfortunately for now we only have material for 10 sets.
It's red material also and 25 mm thick.
Material is too expensive to reorder, so I will only run these 10.
These necks have also the correct contour radius on the edge.
Rob noticed this early on and drew this in.
Will post thread and picture shortly.
