Prequel - Rise of the Planet of the Apes Movie

The more I see of it, the more I want to see it.

Also does anyone remember when that chimp went of a rampage and was trying to get to those people trapped in their car, adding that the chimp knew how to open car doors. It took the whole police dept. to take down one normal chimp. We're boned if a bunch of them, especially smart ones, tried to take us down.

This looks like absolute hell to me. Tim burtons remake sucked (as does near enough to all Tim Burton remake) Seen the trailers at the cinematic the other day and it didnt not recieve a good reaction, a good few folk booing, which made me laugh. Ill see how the reviews go before I decide to pick up on this one.

This is something that happened for real?

Also there was those chimps that attacked the guy, where they tore his foot off, ripped his testicles off, and tore his eyes out.

If I directed the movie, this would be the entire last half of the movie. An army of testicle-removing, face-ripping off apes with nothing that can stop them.

Holy ****... now THOSE are things that should be in a Rise of the Apes movie. And they can even label it at the beginning: Inspired by real events! .)

Though, what I'm seeing in the pictures and trailers... well... looks like a CGI crap-fest.

I don't get it. CGI isn't any cheaper than doing it practically half the time unless it's something that just can't be done well practically such as having thousands of characters at once and such.

Yeah, i hate to be the bearer of bad news....but most movie goers nowadays don't want to see some dude in a noticiably fake suit, they'd rather see a noticiably CGI ape.

I know but it just makes me wonder why nobody appreciates stuff that looks real these days. Then again I also wonder why the CGI in the droid phone commercials looks better than most of it in movies.

I think the biggest thing is what can look more realistic. If you look at someone in a suit, can they move and look like an actual ape to the point where you think it's an actual monkey.

I'm all for practical effects when it can be done right, but if CGI can accomplish what makeup can't? Now thats not to say let's be lazy, I mean something that makeup can't do because of the complexities.

Stil though, Practical > CGI

I'm even for a hybrid of the two. Non-organic things generally look better in CGI than plants or humans no matter how much work you put into them. It's just something the eye can pick up, I mean if the story is good i tend to forget I'm watching CGI but that's rare. Maybe if the story doesn't' suck on this one it'll be at least better than Burton's cause that was bad with people in suits lol.

There was nothing wrong with the ape makeup in Burton's movie. That was TOP of the line, all-round, except Helena Bonham Carter's character, forgot the name. That looked like a turd, because of the art direction on trying to make her less ape-like and more human. They should have kept her like the rest of the apes.

I saw what seemed to be a prolonged trailer for this with X-Men.

I gotta say, I'm not hating it. They could have something here.

And I am going to pretend Carson Dyle did not question my Apes knowledge on the last page.

I dunno, I think this would have appealed to me more if it was prosthetics and props Ide have more interest than CGI. Like the wolfman, I heard rumours that they went oldschool, no CGI which drew in a massive bunch of me and friends. got there and CGI everywhere and ruined the whole film. I must just be in that minority that would rather see a real than CGI.

Saw the same trailer and I agree...my interest is piqued enough to catch this is in the theatre. Not sure why everyone is so upset at the CGI. Looked pretty good on the big screen. I also thought the makeup effects in the Burton flick were top notch.

It's always hard to tell with previews. I've seen good preview with the movie ending up being a disappointment and I've seen crap previews with the movie turning out to be really good. I have high hopes as so far I like the storyline from what little I've heard. Edit: Just read the wiki and it sounds like it was made by fans of the original. Apparently the Icarus ship even pops up as a hint to sequels.

I know micdavis' head is going to explode, but I have never liked any of the 'Ape' movies. Seemed to me that they were always on TV on Sunday's and always seemed to be on ALL DAY LONG.... just boring on and on and on.

And while the costumes for the Tim Burton remake were amazing, everything else about that movie left a lot to be desired.

However, in seeing the trailer for this before X-Men: First Class, I am really interested and excited to see it! I love that they aren't talking apes, but just smarter and organized, but not exactly like us. Why would they need to talk like we do? If they can communicate effectively, is speech like ours necessary?

Anyway, I am (apparently one of the few) actually looking forward to this!

I bet in the sequels they learn to talk. It makes more sense then them suddenly learning how to talk without a lot of practice and time such as the massive amount of time between the rebellion in the original movie series and the original movie. I really do hope that this does well enough to warrant it to be a trilogy.
